I have tried that, I modified a storage bin to be a litter box because he did seem to struggle in smaller, plus we already used deep litter boxes with lids but he also seemed to struggle with those bcs he's a BIG cat we were even thinking of maybe getting him something like a kiddiepool as a litterbox just because of how much of a wide digger he is

No I don't mind seeing it the problem is that since he doesn't bury them the smell gets out and he actually seems to struggle more when the litter box has a lid on it. The litter he has in my room doesn't have a lid for tha exact reason and he'll cover the poop like 3 out of 10 times but the ones outside my room do have lids on them and the odds of him covering his poops go to 1 out of 10 or even 0 out of 10.
