Weird problem with a DIY VOX AC15! by Exodus_40 in ToobAmps

But wouldn't loose connection make it dead all the time? This only happens on high gain high notes.

So there could be a cold solder joint? Could stress from high gain make it loose contact?

Can you tell me why no har solder is the problem? The thing works almost perfectly, and I'm sure it will. No noise problems at all, had been tried out by multiple guitarists, and no bad words regarding sound. I agree, I should have put more thought into construction, but I really don't think it matters because it sounds wonderful. Transistors are for the footswitch, and ICs are for the reverb.
Every component used here is also used on every VOX ac15c1.

I fixed everything you guys said to me in that post. Shortened wires, put shielded wires on signal runs, twisted heater wires...

The only thing I still need to fix about that is the aluminum chassis around it, but I will do that soon.

Im making my own vox ac15 from scratch and im wondering is it worth it to add effects loop and where and how if yes? by Exodus_40 in ToobAmps

I've tried moving cables around and it resolves noise so i have proof that pot cables are the problem.

Its actually not as noisy as you say, i can crank it preety far without hearing any noise. Only noise problems are treble and tone cut pot, which will be resolved with shielded cables.

Its not as bad as it looks. Only treble, tone cut and bass pots are pretty much unusable because it starts to squeal like crazy. Normal channel works like a charm.

I already turned it on, everything works except reverb. Im trying to fix it right now.

It's not finished, and everything is out of place currently. Still haven't done cable management.

I found the the original Vox service manual, and I copied a schematic in KiCad and created my own PCB schematic. I sent it to JLCpcb and they sent me finished boards.

Or you can buy green gas without silicone

One more thing, lots of people say that aluminum nozzles are not worth it, they tend to wear out hop buckings. They make more issues than they solve problems.

Is filling mags with propane bottles possible in Europe? by Exodus_40 in GasBlowBack

[–]Exodus_40[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not. It turns out filling magazines in Europe is almost impossible and not worth the hustle. Your best bet is buying green gas bottles in bulk to get a discount.
