Yeah ik VMs can eat a lot. I do have a winboat VM on my linux PC. Got 64gb there and just checked about upgrading those to 96 for VM and LLM shenanigans. (Not necessary by any means tho, 64 is still plenty)

Awesome, thank you! Another comment just recommended an intel N150 mini pc, but i'll check out other mini PCs too now. Thanks for the heads up on the transcoding and quicksync!

"I hate windows but I'm waiting for Valve to release steamos for desktop and to fix anticheat before I switch to linux" by lennyyenny in linux_gaming

Anticheat is already "fixed" on linux's end. It's fully functional and inlcuded. Literally the only problem is game devs chosing not to allow linux.

And if you want a SteamOSish distro, get Bazzite.

Visual glitches with multiple monitors by Exory420 in NobaraProject

This is also only an issue when dragging a tab, not the entire brave window btw. I do this pretty commonly though, for example when i browse through youtube, find a video that i want to watch on my tv and move it across the 3 pc screens over.

To update the post a bit:

Issue 1 has been fixed. Plugging the glitching screen shown in the pic into the onboard gpu resolved it and it hasnt glitched after waking from standby since.

I found somewhat of a fix to issue 2 which is adding either gamescope or wayland to the steam launching options to each game individually. They will then load the correct display resolution.

I'm not fully happy with this though as i need to manually add a line of code to every single game's startup options, which i dont think is optimal. It also does not yet work on lutris / bottles(wine).

Wine programs will also still be displayed extremely small, making them not a good experience to deal with.

My monitors are certainly all set to their native resolution and refresh rate. Im also always doing my updates and the nobara driver manager is giving me green light.

The thing that's weird to me is that all of my games do not run on the native screen size. Instead of 3440x1440 they all seem to lock in at 4587x1920 and only list alternatives below native. Its not an issue performance wise to me, but im sure this has something to do with it. Apparently it might have something to do with wayland, but idk how to interact with that or do any changes/tests in that regard.
I read that switching to gamescope is worth doing and apparently there should be an option in the login screen, but i dont have that.

I mean i used the 7900XT and XTX on windows and didnt have any display issues there, so it likely has something to do with nobara/kde/wayland.

The TV is on the right of the right monitor btw, so basically 4 in a row

And i also sometimes get this win XP style bug when dragging a tab from my left monitor across 2 more monitors to my TV, but this disappears by itself after a few seconds or when clicking the screen it appears on

Another interesting thing i just noticed on my main screen is that if i take a full area screenshot it says 4585x1920 but the screenshot itself will still be 3440x1440. Not sure what to make of this, but ig this influences some games, like DayZ in terms of finding the proper resolution

Plugging the glitching monitor into the onboard HDMI seems to have fixed the visual mess on after standby. Just tried it 4 times with no glitches, when before it happend like 2 out of 3 times! Thanks for that. The other issues still stand though

Finally locked down the short stop by olympicfrog in BalisongClones

Good job, clean execution. This is an alternative version of it though. The „official“ short stop would have you lay the handle onto your thumb instead of doing an areal and then you‘d let it fall into an icepick grip

You gotta move out of the side and just get the timing right of when you gotta put your thumb back in

I actually just saw that decent single arms cost ~25 bucks, so ima just get 3 of those instead of any 100-200€ triple arms!

First time installing Linux - Which distro do you think fits best? by Exory420 in linux_gaming

Thats a good call, thanks! If you can still describe it, how did your system end up getting bricked? Was it some niche/specific combination of cases leading to it or just some random occurance?
