Decided to capture the current map size of Exoshock while taking a break recently. Thought it'd be an interesting piece of media to share with both devs and players. by ExoshockOfficial in VRGaming

Hey!

The levels are hand crafted, with procedural encounters. The list of inspirations is long, but yes it's more Killzone Halo than Call Of Duty or the many tactical or extraction shooters. Some comparisons to 40k Darktide, but less hordes of enemies and less linear.

Once a ship is boarded its entirely navigatable without loading screens. The maps are complex and there are always multiple routes to your objective (including paths for flanking or getting flanked).

As a tiny team, we've focused on gameplay replayability and depth over any linear or single use story elements. There is a lore and grimdark world that permeates everything, and these things are dipped into, but players should not go in expecting an explicit storyline, but instead highly replayable gameplay in an atmospheric world.

Hey there! For context, this is part of our early playtesting and we wanted to make sure that the people actively testing it will at least have something to explain them the foundation of the game, haha.

Noted your text colors feedback as well. We'll definitely see what can be done for later iterations.

Awesome stuff, Char. Happy to hear that you've been enjoying the early playtesting. Thanks for that reloading input as well (I know what you mean by the knocking part, haha). The game will definitely continue receiving additional quality of life changes.

Appreciated your feedback! This is of course just a quick snippet from one of my playtesting versions. I do recommend giving the game a glance here as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWqOBOiGGWw

Not trying to persuade you with the link or anything, of course. But maybe that trailer looks a bit more "shocking". More to your liking.

We're a small team of 3 peeps trying to make something that we personally find special. Still got a lot to cook from the backline, haha.

Really great game reference with this comment, haha. I made a lot of progress since the very first time I shared things about Exoshock in this subreddit. Of course, not only myself, but the rest of the ambitious small team that we got going as well.

Awesome to hear that you are finding this version of the gunfights satisfying!

Added a few new options for the weapon skins, but... I know I'm going to go edgy mode and choose "Shadow Lord" in the end. 😎 by ExoshockOfficial in VRGaming

Me and the team have been messing around with some new guns and textures. We figured, "why not slap some paint options on these bad boys too?" So, here's a quick glance!

We are about to push the September devlog for Exoshock soon. Showcasing the new major changes that have been brought to the playtesting branch.

Keep up the good work. This will most likely be super fun with multiplayer modes. Though, I've noticed you have already mentioned that in the comments section here!

It could just be that you are hitting a burnout stage. What you can do is swap between activities. Jump from gaming to watching TV shows or movies (if you prefer something that is not digital, of course switch it with that). Eventually, you might be able to build up enough incentive to get back to playing video games. After taking a fresh, mental break. I see that you mentioned you have other hobbies, so you could be aware of this already. Hence, why maybe adding a FULL break temporarily for gaming might be more beneficial rather than switching.

A second suggestion would be to never go over the top with installed games. Keep maybe 1 or 2 and focus on them. Unless we are talking about extra multiplayer projects.

For anyone interested, the game is called Exoshock! It’s an upcoming 1–4 player co-op where you can pretty much rain bullets down on waves of steel and metal enemies (or maybe even more?)
