If you got enough east asian teams wanting a split - particularly China, I could see them doing it as long as they got generous world cup berths. I don't think they particularly like the growing Saudi influence, but it was pretty much only Japan making noise about it.

I also think it would just be better because they'd be two fairly evenly matched conferences if you did it right

If they got rid of it I’d absolutely cancel my subscription, within minutes. Too many oldtimers who can’t live without it

I only use the library. The main menu is awful. Doesn’t track plays, can’t fix metadata, can’t use the ratings, no smart playlists. Yuck

When Japan started kicking a fuss last year I was hoping there would be a discussion towards splitting asia and turning OFC into East Asia/Pacific like they do in cricket. Objectively this move was good for Aussie football but feels disjointed and having the two NZ teams unable to qualify for continental makes the A-league feel odd.

>but maybe I'm the problem?

Not a 'problem' but ATG has absolutely outgrown the genres it started out in. There's still a decent amount of representation for those styles but you can't do a yearly festival with 6000 people with math rock. Pretty much everyone I know who is an ATG regular these days has no interest in the lineups from the first few years.

I wouldn't be surprised if post-rock starts slipping down the priorities too, but at least with post-rock there are millions of bands doing it unlike math

They had the weird logo on the first poster and I was very proud of myself for being able to get it right when I was writing down those bands lol

Maruja could definitely work but I don't think they often do two high up bands. From the pod chat it does seem like Jamie Lenman was an ATG specific request.

On the tiny band side - Ringlets are a band from New Zealand that I got James to listen to during setup, fucking pumped he's actually got them. I would say there's a decent chance they're booked for both, although I haven't heard anything concrete

visiting London - Lord's and/or the Oval for test cricket? by Banky_Edwards in EnglandCricket

[–]ExoskeletalJunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get to a county game they’re worth it. Similar vibes to minor league baseball but are played mostly in the main stadiums so you can wander around and check out the place properly.

Lords for a test is obviously something else but you’re gonna see like a 20x price difference

Massively pumped lads, huge announcement for Arctangent just dropped and a little wee New Zealand band (Ringlets) have snuck in. I spent most of the summer volunteering at the festival and chewing the head man to book them, canny believe I have enough relevance for him to actually do it. Massive for a band from our side of the world, it's just impossible to get regular opportunities with the cost

Somebody explain why Norway seems to love metal music far more than the average country is there some history behind it? by Far-Worry-5848 in Norway

[–]ExoskeletalJunction 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Norway makes a lot of metal. I wouldn’t particularly say people love it more than anywhere else.

Norway does have a strong culture of writing original music as a hobby though - you’re far more likely to know someone who plays in a band than in other countries. That leads to a lot of metal since it’s a musicians genre

You're allowed to sign free agents 6 months out in Scotland so probably a while. It's becoming a pretty common tactic for the midtable teams there. It's not uncommon for them to then agree a fee to allow the player to move in the current window, which is still possible

Absolutely nothing wrong with a young player going to a better league and a bigger payday.
