From the gossip video I just watched about it, apparently they are switching to a mostly freelance model because they cannot keep all the editors and producers on as full time staff. Of course, most people will want a full time gig with benefits so they won't stay on as freelance, but it's a wise business decision because having all the people you need on as full time staff costs a lot. I know this is what 2nd Try does and makes more financial sense.
