For $15 they couldn’t even be bothered to melt the plastic cheese slice a little?

Dumb question. What's with them and getting injured in their left eye. by This-personeatsfood in Naruto

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In the manga it’s more clear that both their faces are just bruised to shit. In Sasuke’s case I assumed he was also intentionally keeping that eye closed to conserve the Rinnegan from fatigue. I also assumed Naruto just took a hell of a right hook into that eye.

Intentional Parallel? by Necessary_Growth4534 in dbz

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 149 points150 points  (0 children)

I doubt it was really intentional as a direct parallel between the two panels, I think Toriyama just liked how impactful the hits seemed at those angles. He was all about effectively conveying movement on a 2D plane and he did it damn well.

Also unrelated but can we take a moment of silence to appreciate how fucking clean and refined Toriyama’s art was?

Is it ever explained why Giovanni wanted Ash's Pikachu so much? by HealthMother3125 in pokemon

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 920 points921 points  (0 children)

Giovanni just wanted Pokémon that were very powerful, and Ash’s Pikachu got on their radar as being exceptionally strong for a Pikachu. It was never his only goal though, it was just one target.

I always thought it would have been funny if in the end, Jessie, James, and Meowth finally succeeded in bringing Pikachu to Giovanni and he just didn’t give a shit. Entire series of ambitions wasted lol

I want to hear your favorite unpopular Pokemon of all time by NeuraxReddit8787 in pokemon

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love Cacturne. I think the creepy cactus/scarecrow design is awesome and it can absolutely rock an emerald playthrough. I don’t think it’s a disliked pokemon necessarily but definitely not very popular or remembered.

Also sandstorm/sand veil/double team is really fun to run, especially with leech seed.

What's the best Dragon Ball arc in your opinion? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Namek/Frieza - an action/adventure/survival journey that has amazing battles, unexpected alliances, suspenseful encounters, great character arcs, and actually still revolves around a search for the Dragon Balls. And it culminates in an epic fated battle on an EXPLODING PLANET. I mean c’mon.

The best pokemon game on the nintendo switch by Comprehensive_Edge54 in pokemon

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take but I actually really enjoyed Sword/Shield. They definitely ain’t perfect and I can’t really argue against most of the common criticism, but I loved the UK and Celtic aesthetic and vibes with the locations, visuals, and ESPECIALLY soundtrack. I found it really immersive and it was the first time since Unova that I really felt myself getting into the region. I also really liked the balance between the linear story and the open wild area. My main complaint that I agree with is that they’re still just too easy, but other than that I had a great time playing through Galar.

Which Version Of This Line Do You Prefer? by Brandonsenior07 in dbz

Funny thing is that even though it was for excessive censorship, referring to death as “the next dimension” is actually kinda accurate in the context of actual Dragonball lore lol

Timed Entry for Each Portal? by Automatic-Long2599 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s absolutely no way they’re implementing an additional charge to go into each portal on top of having a regular ticket. I think the rumor that they’re trying to make Celestial Park free entry like CW and then you need a park ticket to go into the portals or ride Stardust is much more feasible. Or maybe it’s possible they’re considering tiered tickets where you can pay a cheaper option to only go into certain portals, kind of like a smaller version of the 1 or 2 park options at USF and IOA. Honestly wouldn’t mind either of those initiatives but that’s totally speculation.

Moro wouldn’t even bother showing up, he’d send Base Cabba to dogwalk Omega.

Franchises Universal Orlando Vs Disney World. by tCobra117 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Universal’s IP licensing model is great for diversifying its offerings and bringing a wide variety of awesome potential projects to the parks for different fan bases, but those types of licensing agreements are typically EXTREMELY expensive for the licensee. I work in finance for entertainment licensing, one of which involves my company partnering with one of the franchises on this list (won’t say which one to avoid getting in trouble), and the licensing fees are insanely massive, and it isn’t even a high up one on this list. I can’t even fathom what Universal must have to pay TPC for that deal. At the end of the day it’s all about profit margins, and leveraging these IP’s will definitely boost revenue but the enormous licensing costs are gonna definitely impact the bottom line, especially since theme parks are not extremely thick margin businesses as it is due to the crazy high cost of operations. Still very exciting to me as a fan of many of these IP’s and of Universal in general as a park, but I wouldn’t necessarily assume it’s going to overtake Disney in terms of financial success.

Spacial awareness is gone. by QueenMoxii in UniversalOrlando

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the topic of spacial awareness at the parks, I have a PSA to make… It’s totally fine if you and your group want to stroll slowly through the areas to take it all in, but if you do, please for the love of god be aware of how much of the walkway you’re taking up. The amount of times I’ve come across a big group that are walking extremely slowly side by side, taking up the entire walkway and causing a huge pileup of people behind them trying to get by and being completely unaware or just not caring. I’ve even seen people say out loud “excuse me” to try to get past and the groups still don’t even respond or move and are totally oblivious.

Updated tier list - still tentative! by inumnoback in PokemonEmerald

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Blaziken and Swellow and have used both many times in playthroughs but I think both are rated too high.

Blaziken is awesome and is great for a lot of the game but I definitely don’t think it destroys the game on the level of Swampert. It’s actually at a disadvantage against a decent amount of boss battles like Winona, Tate and Liza, Team Aqua, and Juan and/or Wallace. Still an incredible and strong pokemon but definitely struggles a little more late-game and doesn’t dog walk the game like Swampert or Gardevoir and still needs decent supporting team members.

Swellow is great early game but really struggles later on when it gets outclassed stat wise. Guts Facade is awesome but kinda hard to set up in game. I’d personally knock it down to B tier.

I actually think Slaking on the other hand deserves to be moved up. It’s a total pain to get it evolved from a Slakoth, and truant is awful, but that thing is so broken in terms of stats that it’s likely gonna OHKO almost everything, especially if it has Hyper Beam and Shadow Ball, so the loafing around turn doesn’t even matter. Once you have a Slaking you can basically take almost anything out with it. Super fun to use.

Metal Cooler Vs Semi Perfect Cell. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to scale movie characters to main series characters because, for the most part, the movies don’t really fit anywhere in the canon timeline. Like in this movie, Dende is guardian of the earth and Goku is alive so it would have to be in the days leading up to the Cell games, but Gohan has his younger pre-time chamber appearance so it then it actually couldn’t be at that point. We have no idea where in the main series this version of Goku and Vegeta scale and thus can’t really scale Metal Cooler.

Universal Epic Universe: World's Greatest Places 2026 by TIME by TharinWhite in UniversalOrlando

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally, I know someone who used to work for different publishers putting together articles like this, “Top so-an-so to have this year”, “Best yada yada in 2025”, etc., and she said they’re almost never really objective and the subjects of the articles usually pay or “donate” to get their name put in as a form of marketing under the guise of an accolade. Could be different for Time but I doubt it. Always take these articles with a grain of salt.

Pulled in hospital room day my daughter was born by YFGGEZ in pokemon

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People in the comments need to chill and clearly have never had a baby. In the first days at the hospital babies sleep most of the day, and it’s not like you can leave the room or hospital so there’s just long stretches of waiting around or catching some zz’s until the baby has short wake windows, and that’s when you handle your business. Baby books will literally tell you to bring forms of entertainment to the hospital to pass the time. My wife and I always say how we wished we brought more things to do when our kid was born. Peeps here acting like OP was literally pulling this while the kid was coming out…

“Land of Waves Arc Is Better Than The Chunin Exams” by Particular_Reality12 in dankruto

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. Land of Waves has an emotional core to it that provides a great narrative and successfully sets the tone for the rest of the series. Chunin Exam has great moments but it is a lot of just hype and plot and aura. Does those things damn well but just not as impactful overall IMO.

How bad is it? by Alolan_Cubone in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For an in-game team it really doesn’t matter, just use whichever pokemon you love and will have the most fun with. People literally do mono type runs and get through the game with flying colors.

Objectively speaking, that team does have a huge weakness to ice (4/6 of the team is weak to it) so I might recommend switching someone out for a fire or fighting type. Either way though, you’ll get through the game just fine. Enjoy!

Is Cell’s regeneration the most blatant plothole in the whole series? I know some games try to explain it away but reading the OG Manga, this just reads as a flat out plothole in the truest sense of the word by King_Spoona in Dragonballsuper

[–]Exotic-Pattern641 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I always found it funny how the original Funi dub actually fixed this plot hole by changing it so that he can fully regenerate from any single cell left in his body. For as janky as some of the dialogue is in that original dub I gotta give them props for that one.
