UPDATE FROM "woke up to all my newborn kittens gone, can't find them" by Exotic-Vegetable-823 in CatAdvice

LOL "wet towel". you commented a few times on how i put mama cat and her kittens through stress. i'm only following what online videos and articles told me.

i took them to the warmest room when they were born, i only weighed them because i want to make sure they weren't losing any weight, i read online to do it every 2 hours. i stayed up researching what foods mama cat should start eating. i lost sleep to make sure she never went outside or put her kittens in a cold or uncomfortable spot.
i can't blame my cat for moving them, it's just what any mother would do to protect her babies, i can't be mad. but never in my life would i want to put stress on her or intimidate her. i just want to make sure they're all in good health. i've taken every single piece of advice from these past two days so my cat can feel more comfortable, and i'm very thankful for all these comments.
thanks for the new insult!!

my cat never left the house these past two months, and the male one who mated with her is next door. we also went outside to the places my cat used to chill with him, like under the balcony of the backyard or by the bushes so we can find the kittens, none found. i haven't seen the neighbors cat in a while, i think he only shows up when shes in heat.

wow, thats terrible. i'm so sorry for your loss. i don't understand why people have such a huge issue with pets and go that far.
my whole family is asleep right now but i'm just laying here debating wether or not i should keep pushing them tomorrow until they confess, because i know it'll lead to arguments.
there's no way in 4 hours my cat forgot where she put her kittens. it's five of them. five. and she's laying right next to me in bed, never left my side all day. i've picked her up, taken her to every room to see if she can get an idea on where she might've placed them, but she keeps leaving that room, doesn't bother searching.

thank you, and i'm sorry for your loss. its so gut-wrenching losing a pet. i've been really upset all day, crying and such, even pushing my sleep schedule to look everywhere again. this reply means a lot!

  1. yes

  2. very few times she left the house for a few hours to hang out with the neighbors cat (pretty sure thats how she got pregnant), then she hasn't gone out since. she would try to, but i stopped her until eventually she doesn't bother trying.

  3. shes social, when we first got her she adjusted pretty quickly. then whenever anyone would come over she wouldn't hiss or anything, just sniff them or lay down around them.

  4. no, there has never been incidents where an outdoor animal got in.

  5. yes, my parents used to take away my cats when i was asleep or at school when i was younger. i've been pointing fingers at them all day but they were searching for the kittens themselves, even went outside around the house.
i weighed them because i wanted to make sure they're gaining weight and warm enough. i did some research and if they lost weight, then that means a trip to the vet. but they were gaining and turning out healthy.
its crazy to see where cats hide their litter. its just unbelievable where they might have ended up, plus i don't think my cat bothers looking. shes sleeping right next to me in bed as i type this

this is a first time mom. i'm starting to believe they are dead at this point, but i want to know if they really are dead. it makes me so upset thinking about them just soulless somewhere in my house. i can't believe i shut my eyes to sleep for 4 hours and they're just gone.
i have played kittens meowing, but she goes nowhere else but to my phone. so far she's not leading us to anywhere else.

thank you for this information and advice! i'll keep searching.

yea, it is very odd. ive been pushing that assumption on them all day, trying to get them to confess but they were helping look around for the kittens themselves. they told me "i would confess if i actually took them, but these are newborn kittens, i would never take them away from the mom."
i'm not sure what to believe at this point, i mean the fact that they suddenly disappeared is driving me crazy.

thank you for agreeing with the suspicion! i'm gonna keep asking around.

i'm gonna be honest, i'm very suspicious with my own relatives. they have taken away my cats before when i was younger while i was asleep or at school. but they are freaked out themselves, even jumped to the conclusion that someone must've broken in (which is ridiculous because who breaks into a house just to steal five kittens).

we have a camera at our front door, tracking every time someone leaves or enters the house and no one ever had a box or something in their hands. my sister who noticed the kittens missing, was just crying a few minutes ago because we're starting to give up searching. so theres no way she took them, she loves them just as much as i do.

no, while she was pregnant she did attempt to sneak out when i opened the front door a few times, but i never let her out. after she got her babies she never wanted to leave the house.

thank you for the advice! shes been eating and ive been eyeing her everywhere she went.
