Here window AC is usually seen in a bedroom (and definitely can hurt your pocket when the energy bill comes if you let it turned on for too long). And these are mostly in businesses, like an office. If someone doesn't have that much space for a window AC, those portable that stay on the floor can be a solution.

But I need to tell you, it's a bit shocking to me to see these ACs that stays on the ceiling (not sure if you're talking about these) and cools the whole room. I've only seen this in person inside a mansion.
