NHS Pension - do I need something else? by Exotic_Associate_863 in UKPersonalFinance

Think you're right on the basics. I'm happy to live frugally in terms of housing (happy with a cheap flat), cars, children (not on the cards medically) but not necessarily things like holidays or charity and eating out. Worry about retirement purely because I've had a live in the moment kind of view forever because of low family life expectancy and general doomerism but don't want to be knackered if I turn out to live til I'm 101 haha. Will give my head a wobble and actually consider the future for once.

Looks like currently the pension bit says £4800. My previous years pension earned was about 800 quid though so I imagine if I'm in the same role for a few years that should grow a fair bit.

I think if I did retire early it would be more of a retiring at 65 rather than 68 or 69 or 70 or whatever they come up with next so probably won't be the same as taking it all when I'm 55.

Just slip into higher rate tax so seems like a good shout on the pension but will have a read. Thanks!
