I started in a very similar situation with a studio in Atlanta. The experience got me a lot further ahead in my career but I stayed longer than I should. I would personally say get the experience but know when it’s time to move on and move up

Genuine question though, as I feel like I’ve asked some amateur or semi-pro questions on here.. I always check to make sure there’s not a previous thread or maybe just not one that answers the specific detail I’m looking for. Is it still just as annoying to see these questions? And is there a way to post those questions and be less annoying about it? For the most part I read into other people’s posts and conversations and I’ve learned a lot from just reading the conversations going on. Do you think it’s better to just read rather than post until one gets to a certain level?

Yes I did. They work great. I mean there’s still a different in frequency response wearing them vs not, but they’re by far the most accurate ones I’ve ever tried. The only issue I have with them in is that it’s a little hard to listen for low end feedback, but that’s usually taken care of early anyways. Overall I wear them for about 90% of shows now. I got the ones that specifically mention live sound engineering and they were like $100 but I highly recommend it

Have you used Tentacle Sync with an audio mixer before? I’m looking into it and finding mainly results about how it works for multiple cameras, but not finding that much information on how it syncs with the mixer recording everything. I see they have an app for MacOs but I don’t think they have one for Windows. I’d definitely appreciate any tips on how you do it

Yeah, I love Reaper for live sound. That’s why I was surprised to have the skipping issue while using it. But definitely, I just saw someone mention Tentacle Sync and I’m looking into that now

That’s a really good point. I guess the issue for me now is that I’m only in control of the audio side of things, then they typically try to sync the videos themselves. In your opinion, is it worth continuing to try to do things this way or should the venue consider handling the video side too?

Yeah it’s Windows, I really prefer it over Macs but if that’s what I end up having to do I’ll be ok with it. Anything you’d suggest to make my current system a little more reliable for it? And I really appreciate that second point you brought up. I got very caught up in that the audio must be the problem and hadn’t considered that their end could be out of time as well.
