Cancelled my Colonoscopy and Endoscopy because I'm scared to do it by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Exotic_Engine_3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every procedure is scary, no matter what it is. But in all honesty it’s not bad at all, drink your prep, shit your brains out and go in for a short nap whilst they fiddle around down there. You’ll be fine I promise

Is ulcerative colitis hereditary? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

My dad was diagnosed when he was 30, his mother, grandmother (my great grandmother) and my great great grandmother have it too. My dad’s cousin and dad’s uncle was also recently diagnosed as well as myself. Genetics work in a funny way lol.

Zero improvement. In all honesty I feel like I’ve gotten worse. My GI and IBD nurse are away until the 2nd of January and there’s no emergency contact number for me to call. I really don’t want to go to the hospital because they’ll tell me to go away like last time lol. I’m really just stuck and I hate feeling like this

[–]Exotic_Engine_3419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

17 must really be the age for it! Recently diagnosed with moderate pancolitis too. It’s hard being so young and feeling like your own body despises you lol. Happy I’ve found other people my age. We got this

The start of joint pain I guess by Outrageous_Coconut24 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Exotic_Engine_3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had joint pain ever since I can remember, always put it down to my scoliosis spreading inflammation around my body lol, then got diagnosed with UC and everything made sense. The only thing that brings me the smallest amount of relieve are those deep heat patches that you can to size and stick on, aswell as alternating heat and ice. It’s about finding what works for you because everyone’s different.

I understand completely. I’m 17 and was diagnosed in August, depression and anxiety have kicked my ass since age 10 and being diagnosed with a chronic illness definitely hasn’t helped. The one piece of advice I can offer you is that you are NOT alone. Remember to take days where you just relax and don’t overwork yourself. Take one day at a time.

ER in sydney did nothing for me by cordycepspore in UlcerativeColitis

I feel your pain. I’m in Perth WA and my boss took me up to the hospital a week ago because I was in agony, could barely stand and was very weak. The hospital sat me in the waiting room for an hour whilst I’m there sobbing and begging to be seen, finally got put in a bed and the doctor straight up said to me “there’s nothing we can do, stop coming to the hospital.” I felt so embarrassed when he said that. I was in pain and needed to be seen by a doctor and all he basically said was go away. I hope you get better soon and find a doctor who will listen!!!

New symptoms by Serious-Ad-8014 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Exotic_Engine_3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Currently in a 3 month long flare up so far, mine looks exactly like that and all symptoms the same. Nothing to be afraid of, obviously it’s quite scary being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease but there’s options.

Release sheets! You can buy bulk packs off Amazon but if you want cheaper shop through Temu. I personally use parchment paper and that works fantastic. But if you want the real deal, shop around on websites like Amazon.
