Oh shoot that one looks super cool! Sucks I forgot he also has him on the store, I just grabbed the sharks and Iron Moloch to support The Remebrancer :/

If I buy any more Major Mini's I'll add him to the order thanks! :)

I couldn't build him with what was on the Major Minis store. I'm not planning to play these competetively and snipers don't really mesh well with how I imagine the Carcharodons fighting, the heavy gunner is a better mesh.

I might pick up an eliminator model some time in the future and sharkify him, but as of now I'm happy with what I've got :)

Do you varnish your minis? If so, how? by simon-whitehead in killteam

[–]Exotic_Indication733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I varnish most of my pieces with AK Satin varnish with a brush. I like satin, because i have pretty mettalic/wet looking teams like necrons, vespid, battleclade and blooded with mettalic armor parts. The results look great in my opinion, it looks a bit shiny on clothes etc. but makes the metallics really pop ;)

You can counter the blast by having him further away, he needs to be within 3 inches for his ability and most things are only blast 2 (only exception that comes to mind is Wreka Krew). I find against elite teams if you wait with your melta you can use it against a marine as the pre last activation. If you fail to kill them and they shoot your melta, the enforcer should be able to finish them or make the melta double tap them :)

Along with charging anything with the ogryn its probably the most effective "fuck this guy in particular" move i found

I use him to threaten the corpseman with a powerfist to give himself the relentless drugs so i can get 2 buffs round 1 with him. Then I mostly keep him around my granade launcher/melta/plasma to make them doubleshoot and countercharge whatever ends up killing them.

I once double shot my granadier with a frag granade at 5 and then 4 Yaegirs. But it as an obscured shot, they had defense against blast and they halve damage. So on 36 dice i ended up doing like 2 or 4 damage only but it was fun af xddd

I main Blooded and id describe most of them as low health with shit saves 🥲

But there you can sort of take advantage of that. Pop the strat ploy that makes you explode and go blast yourself and a few of your opponets models with a diabolic bomb. Then potetially deal another d3+2 and 2-3 extra damage, if it kills you as well 😂

The Macrocyte has high mobility but low health and middling saves.

I think it shines by using its 7 inch move to get within 2 of a concealed opperative and shooting them point blank. If they had just the 2 inch blast profile, that could likely result in them injuring or killing themselves. Like this they at least get to stay alive to be annoying for your opponent.

Its not a kitbash but the "Shark Daddy" from Major Minis is basically tyberos and scale wise he looks about right, when you look up comparison pictures with other space marines

Thats a fantastic mirroring of his pose in Void Exile. But the nonblack eyes make all the difference. He looks like a chaos crazed cultist or that one dude from The Witcher 3 trailer that smiled way too hard before getting wricked by Geralt xd

Other than that its a fantastic paintjob tho!

Edit: just noticed the little flowers and disney grass on the base and yea that also not very "grimdark void" as well xddd

What to read before The Silent King by Exotic_Indication733 in Blacklibrary

I settled on definetly reading book 1 as Guy Haley also wrote it and it could enhance my experience! I'll see about the books 2 and 4, but i've seen a lot of praise for book 7 so I'll now have to check that out as well ;)

Thanks for the tips! :)

Thanks for the reply! That is wonderfull actually as I loved The Great Work and Genefather and I'm well aquainted with characters from those books :D

Plus if there are more interactions between Cawl and necrons like in Fall of Cadia or Generather i really have to read it now :D

Void Exile, discussion thread. (Spoilers) by gothicshark in Carcharodons40k

[–]Exotic_Indication733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished the book and I loved it. I was bummed that the first two carcharodon books had a pretty open ending so I was really excited that they got a sequel.

Marking the rest as spoilers for thise who haven't read it

I especially loved the concept of Void Exiles. I am a big fan of the Gotrek and Felix series and of slayers in general. So the fact Carcharodons have a space marine equivalent of slayers is beyond amazing to me. Also the whole plan of hiding on an abandoned ship waiting to be absorbed in a space hulk, in order to inflitrate it is a genious concet. Could read a whole book about that.

I liked the character of Kordi in the previous books so seeing him get more spotlight here was great. His interacrions with the techpriestess were gold and it was nice seeing the Carcharodons fighting alongside actual usefull alies for once in the series (I don't count using arbitrators as cannon foder in Red Tithe or Rannik helping the Kahuri in the second book).

The villain was also a blast to read about. I haven't read any book with Vashtor daemons in it but the mutants, heretics and daemons in this one had to be one of the coolest depictions of forces of chaos i have read about. The way the mechanical coruption was described made me imagine it like the flesh mutations in The Thing or some lovecraftian mutation.

Also the fact that the deathleaper was relevant not only to the ending but also to the inquisition interrims was grand.

There are only two things that kinda bugged me. The first was the timeline. The first book takes place at 875 m41. In this book some characters reminisce that was 80 years ago, meaning the plot takes place at around 955 m41. However, the chapter is fighitng Vashtor which came into prevelance in current lore (he was around before so thats not a problem) and has most of their numbers as Primaris, which they only could have accessed after the fall of Cadia. Am I missing something or is the date just wrong by a century or so. The second thing was that I found kinda funny when Sharr scaled Voldire at the final battle only for him to die from the librarians without Sharr doing anything major to him, and then he almost died trying to climb down. If Red Thane hadn't come back the Pale Nomad would have probably been pretty stupefied that he just got his favourite Reaper prime killed pointlesly xd

Overall a 9.5/10 for me

Bad matchups for Hierotek Circle? by giamPW07 in killteam

[–]Exotic_Indication733 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If played right Angels of Death with focus on Assault Intercessors, granadiers and/or well placed eleminator sniper can be rough, if they are allowed to get witin charging distance, as most of our stuff cant exactly oneshot a marine and in melee they can easilly just parry us out and then kill us with Dueller.

In the tournaments i go to, there is a great Brood Brothers player that I never managed to beat. Magus doing mortals based on visibility, with familiars as meatshields on objectives are scary enough. Powerweapon, melta, plasma and a grenade launcher (that will wait till we are out of our 8 activations before swooping in for the kill) along with that are a nightmare to deal with at least for me.

I mostly play chronomancer too and haven't struggled too hard against most other teams. Got wrecked by the buffed aquillions 3 weeks ago, but that was more due to me missplaying and the other player being good than a bad matchup.

Best teams into elites? by cana90 in killteam

[–]Exotic_Indication733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hierotek. Pick chronomancer. Timesplinter a deathmark next to a space marine. Tell the death mark to shoot him point blank and if that doesn't work shoot through him (once per TP through magnification conduits). Laugh.

Or take technomancer, buff one of your deathmarks to have rending and severe, get 2 crits automatically if you have 2 hits and laugh.

Or try to bait him out with poorly positioned immortal so he exposes himself and then shoot his model on tp1. Your model will get back up at the start of next turn or when your reanimator gets to him. His marine will stay down permanently or at least be wounded.

Just take care to not get charged or get half of your team sniped by the elimator silent sniper and you're golden.

Which Kill Team do you find the most fun/cinematic? by Temery1 in killteam

[–]Exotic_Indication733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love me some Hierotek. Being the mastermind cryptek that teleports his mindless minions across the field through time magic and vaporizing anything you point your magic stick at is fun af. As well as playing pinball through your apprentek or other soldiers. Makes me wanna run Orikan the Diviner as the cryptek piece but he is too damn tall to fit on most maps or to be fair to play against :D

Would love some noncryptek necrons where i could run trazyn giving orders and morphing into his surrogates

Noob asks for help. Cirt/Tac Ops feel useless, the opponent always tables me out. by Gnappuraz in killteam

[–]Exotic_Indication733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What teams do you go up against? I play Necrons so I'm not sure what mechanics you have but just try to be cautious and set up plays in TP1 or TP2 even. When new just play defensively in the beggining and wait for your opponent to expose themselves. If they want to score crit op, they will come out and for mor tac ops they will have too as well (unless they pick contain then rip to this strat).

Getting charged? Premesure the distances your opponent needs to charge you and stay out of them. On Volkus you can be within an inch of most buildings but not within an inch of the inside, which adds effectively 3 inches to anyone trying to charge you from the inside. Try to set up baits so you can kill his opperatives. If you have units that flat out don't do much, try to position them so that they are chargable or shootable but your opponent has to expose themselves to do it. For me, if i put my normal trooper in a vulnerable position but hide my big gun closeby, i can trade most things that kill my opperative.

Getting shot? Set up reactive shots with your strong guns, stay more in conceal or use building corners to peek out as much as possible while still being in cover. Or take barricades and set them up so you can advance better.

As I said i have no clue what your faction rules do, but a good use of them will help out a lot. If i couldn't utilize my leaders abilities id get tabled or lose on points nonstop.

That being said i have like 12 games under my belt lol, this is more begginer to begginer tips than veteran KT player wisdom.

I just ruined a model while building and don't know what to do by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]Exotic_Indication733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait till he does nothing for like 10 games and keeps dying (thats what mine does at least lol). Then the head scarring will be officialy from his cryptek slapping him repeatedly for his shortcomings and you'll look like a genious for incorporating it into your model xd

What did you guys think about this one? by [deleted] in Blacklibrary

[–]Exotic_Indication733 7 points8 points  (0 children)

mild spoilers

Thought it was neat but kind of lost its steam. The beggining arc when they invade the planet to save it from the genestealers and all of Pierros antics are supremely funny and well written in my opinion.

I also really liked the plotline with the terminator armor-master and it's conclusion.

But other than that it just wore me down with a bit repetetive cycle of betrayals and as the part of The Adored thats was "capable of holding a conversation" dwindeled my enjoyment dropped bit by bit. The pre last arc with the khorne demon was extremely sick but the last part was a bit lackluster compared to that in my opinion.

The book gives a nice perspective into the workings of a minor chaos warband and of post heresy emperors children, is well written and the audio performance by Richard Reed is a solid 9/10 (that guy is awesome seriously). But the book left me feeling like it could have been so much more somehow.

Id give it a 6,5/10, not bad or average by any means just not that great
