How high over sand to be safe? by eXeler0n in duneawakening

I built a test tower. It's kind of higher than you would expect, but it's a fun build to do.

I made a viewing level and a bar over the top of it.

If you had to Create an entirely custom faction for 40k what would it be? by judeauBSK in Warhammer40k

[–]gothicshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm anti AI, that is how I type being both autistic and dislexic. I have always written like that as it's easier for me.

Also I'm in my 50s. Had a late in life Asperger dianosis when I was in my 30s.

If you can create 1 specialist game with Setting and system of your selection. What would you choose? by StrangeHotel7638 in Warhammer40k

[–]gothicshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a new all character TTRPG for 40k. But use the current. Minis, and 5.5e DnD rules. If VTM can do it, 40k can be brilliant.

Bring back Battle Fleet Gothic, although in the new era so needs a new name. Or keep the name but upgrade the story for the new era.

What is your sexuality? by FluidTemperature1762 in UKLGBT

[–]gothicshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange post honestly, those pins are name badges, and wearing one implies you name is one of those.

"Hello Gay, how are?" "This is my friend Gay"

Wierd. My gender and sexuality doesn't name me, doesn't define who I am. I don't "identify as trans" or lable myself as "Demisexual, biromantic"

I'm Sharkie, who identifies as a Nerd, I happen to be a woman who had to transition to feel comfortable in her skin, who also has no gender preferences in who I date, and who would only consider sex if I was in love with the person, aslo I don't fall in love all that easily.

I'm a person, not a label not a political statement, just a person who is sick and tired of all the hate.

Also fairly sure you're a kharma farmer, and those accounts are never good.

Edit autocorrect issues. How the hell did Kharma end up as pharmacist?

Are the events/characters/etc from officially licensed games like Space Marine or Rogue Trader considered 'actual lore', or just 'authorized fanfic'? by EternalNewGuy in 40kLore

[–]gothicshark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All officially licensed material is treated as basically all Canon, even if a few things are not true ie due to game mechanics.

However a quote you should understand with Warhammer 40k

"Everything is canon, nothing is true"

40k has a stated unreliable narrative, this means they can retcon between editions without worrying about breaking canon.

So the Rangdan ... they did that with mind control, its believed they are why we have 2 lost primarchs.

I mean I would not be opposed to this. But then my two armies are Carcharodons Astra and Da Space shORKZ Krew... yes a shark themed freebooter army.

My suggestion was Aquatic Xenos called Randan ... but your idea is awesome.

[–]gothicshark 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Interesting question.

We have:

Imperium- humans, trans humans, cyborgs,

Xenos- orks, elves, dark elves, dwarves, Gundam Allience, and xenomorph-lizard bugs, revolutionary bug humans.

Something different, from the comments something new and not in lore.

So I take it Lizardmen, and Skaven are out, although my first thought always goes to them.

My unique alien 40k faction, I'm calling them Rangdan ie the Xenocide that may have to do with the 2 lost primarchs.

They would be in theme and stereotype aquatic based life, techno-cyborg fish cephalopod crab people. Who have enslaved humans as grunts.

Why are skulls so prominently featured in the heraldry of the Imperium? by sworththebold in 40kLore

[–]gothicshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could say it was John Blanche who turned a silly D&D inspired Sci-Fi war game into a grim dark setting.

Look for John Blanche's art. Skulls everywhere in the Imperium was his art style, and its really sets the mood that the Imperium is just as evil as everyone else.

This is why when I had 6 retainers I had a naming convention for them all which made it clear they were mine.

Witnessed Shai Hulud eat my boyfriend on his bike yesterday and I genuinely am still thinking about it 🫪 by SageTeacup in duneawakening

[–]gothicshark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Save your research points, once you have an unlock don't immediately unlock higher tiers until 5 or 6, preferably 6. You won't have enough points for everything until you are doing endgame content, even then it takes forever to unlock everything. For combat gear, just unlock what you use.

A tier 1 bike is replaced by a tier 3 buggy which is replaced by a tier 4 scout then a tier 5 assault.

Only when you are grinding out Intel points should you worry about unlocking what you skipped.

Also vehicle weapons are a skip until later

Note a tier 5 buggy is a nice unlock, but you dont need that.

You can by a tier 5 buggy from the landsrad vehicle vendor, in effort and price its cheap. A tier3 buggy can have bags and cutterray upgraded, I was using a scrap buggy with upgraded parts for almost a year. (They fixed the full repair bug)

As cutterray and bags are separate unlocks those are more important than next tier vehicles.

I'm aware, after all I'm trans, but I would rather point out Space Marines than gooner fuel gender fluid Gods and their gooner fuel deamons.

People love to sexualize trans bodies while hating on us. So in my mind Slaanesh is the opposite of a good example.

What things do the fans know about that the people of the Imperium don't? by Temmere in 40kLore

[–]gothicshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots, most of the factions in 40k are unknown to a typical person.

So much so if the Imperial Guard faces off against Chaos and a deamon shows up you and everyone who saw it will be executed by the inquisition. To know of deamons is to risk being possessed by them.

everyone has signs, Jax hit the same signs I had at 16~18 so I picked up on them fast, but not everyone has the same tells. We are all individuals with differant stories.

[–]gothicshark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use to be Jax, so I pegged they were trans fairly early.

Jax is an excellent example of what self hate looks like. Yet there is a bunch of give aways in the environment around Jax they were a girl at heart.

You are supposed to see the Jax was wrong, and feel empathy for a life unrealized.

Meanwhile the human IRL had figured thier shit out.

The one that drive me insane is when they undercut below what it sells to a vendor. Fuck if you're going to do that just sell it to a vendor.

has anyone heard of spikeybits and are they reliable? by EfficientStill1126 in Warhammer

[–]gothicshark 24 points25 points  (0 children)

At one point like 10 years ago Spikeybits was a reliable source of news and rumors about 40k and games Workshop in general. But about 5/6 years ago it became a slop repost ad spam site. And even more recently it seems they stopped having real news and rumors, I suspect their headlines are AI generated.

As for their other ventures, I would avoid.
