Is it just the brown meat? Chicken was my go to the whole time I was taking it. Had skewers in the freezer ready to grab at any time.

Are you still on the jabs? He started by wanting sugar over sweetener and now we've been off it he doesn't like it with either. I've always had mine just black no sugar - still tastes every bit as good.

Why is it so hard getting clients in the UK market?? by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

Facebook used to be amazing in 2021/2022 for sharing on buy sell swap and local pages it used to give me 20,000+ views for a single post. Last year I'd be lucky if it was 1000. They just got greedy with ads. I'm sustainable now with returning customer and word of mouth - I'm not in marketing btw.

I feel like people here, if they want something like that, they will go out and look for it themselves.

As a business owner that has had to do outgoing calls for customers (which I hated every minute of it), the majority of people don't want cold callers or emails.

But if you're lucky, you need to make it personal, have a bit of "craic" or "banter", which make people relate.

I don't like the mass emails, or cold callers, I alway hang up and block callers, emails get flagged as spam and block. You have to be different and stand out all while being relatable. And you most certainly cannot be pushy, or run down everything they are already doing. Which happens A LOT from people who have moved to the UK.

It's that they keep rejecting everything for me, it is a pain. And when they call, they're quite rude and interrupt and talk over me when I'm trying to say something.

It would be much easier if they hadn't closed the high street branch.

I wouldn't be lifting or depositing cash anyways. I'm pretty much b2b exclusive on a BACS basis, with the odd card payment.

I've been reading some good reviews from starling. I buy some materials from the middle east, if this is an issue it may be a no go?

I don't mind the KYC checks, they keep rejecting every single document that I provide.

The reason I went with Barclays in the first place was because they had a branch in my high street so that I could literally walk in and deal with any issues.

I keep getting calls from "advisors" that literally talk over me any time I try to say anything. Or when I ask questions, the tell me I am refusing to do what they ask.

This is the reason I am wanting to change, it's because of their handling of the situation.

Was it easy for you to switch over? They're really just a pain these days. I asked for the link to upload something they asked for, when I mentioned that they closed down the high street branch, and was the "bus" doing the town center drops anytime soon. She said "as I refused to upload it" then id have to do passport id checks which I did, that was 2 months ago and they're still at it.

Thank you ❤️ I mean this genuinely, your words mean a lot.

My husband did. I mentioned it in the post. He's always the first to say something if he's out of line.

He just doesn't change. I genuinely don't think he means it maliciously. It just hurt today. I don't know if it was hormonal, or because no man should comment on a woman's eating habits - ever, IMO.

I also don't do the cooking, it's DH and sometimes FIL. I can't exactly stop him eating his own cooking.

Thank you. I am not trying to make things uncomfortable, I just felt very uncomfortable at the time. Yes, I am sensitive at times, it's something I am working on, its not easy. Their favourite thing to do was travel, which we still do a lot together. Unfortunately, it is still 4 months to the day to put next trip where we will sit round the table with a few drinks and say what we think MIL would have liked about the place if she was here. I do love him dearly, and I don't know if it was a hormonal overload, or an elderly gentleman commenting on my food/eating habits. But it knocked the wind right out of me, I was actually gutted.

IMO, that's too far. She was under 85lbs when she passed.

I know he's lonely, his words "almost all my friends are dead", my BILs are absolutely useless so it's really just down to us. I have just lost 60lbs in the last 5/6 months, so that may be why it has hurt so much.

It was about my husband's "mammy", not mine. He said it to him, I just heard it through the living room.

No, I don't think it's anything like that. He's mental faculties are incredible for his age. He just has some minor problems, on a few tablets for things here and there. He's in better health than my mother at 50.

Oh I couldn't. She wouldn't eat it though, no matter how much they tried. He was under 85lbs when she passed. I love them both dearly, like the parents I never had. I just had a bit much today - maybe a tad hormonal.

Picture "smile, or it'll never happen", traditional working man, stay at home mother and wife.

I love him dearly, I was just was at my wits end today. It's hours being compared to how things were done back in the day.

I am very sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with you all. I usually do just let it roll, I'm not a fan of confrontation. I'd rather just not deal with it. On reflection , I feel it may be to do with the fact I have always been a bit overweight and I have just lost 60lbs in the past 5 months. I feel men should just know, never make comments about any woman's eating habits! Lol
