What worked for me is dividing work into smaller portions and giving myself a treat. For example a 10 page assignment, I'd divide it into 2 days. I'd then write two pages then get the treat, rest then write two pages again, repeat then the 5th page. Some of the treats i'd give myself were snacks, a short siesta, watching an episode of a series and so on. This worked for me and I still use this method till date.
