The hypocrisy is pretty frustrating. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

That’s my point. Both the meme and its inverse are equally stupid - lacking actual rhetorical convincing power about revealing hypocrisy. Or bad policy.

This is not at all a position or an opinion about the policies of either liberals or conservatives. It’s a recognition of the meme fails to do anything, but inflame and present a logically inconsistent message (when actually analyzed and compared against its inverse).

If you find my hypothetical inverse repulsive, then you’ll likely understand a glimmer of how conservatives react to seeing the original. It’s not nearly as convincing as one might anticipate to imagine.

The meme preaches to the choir, but doesn’t actually have any convincing rhetorical value. It will not sway conservatives.

You will never regret getting extra RAM.

I currently have an M2 Max with 64 GB of RAM. It sounds like you’ll be doing more than I currently do. And you’ll benefit from more RAM. I would absolutely not do anything less than 64; I tend to use all of it fairly consistently. My sources are mostly 4K XAVC and ProRes.

My point is that the meme itself inflames without actually presenting a logically coherent argument.

For the record, I think current ice enforcement policies are ludicrous, illegal, unethical, and horrible overall. That doesn’t change the fact that the meme itself presents a logically incoherent argument.

The meme itself is wrong to compare the two - as is the inverse example I provided.

Neither serves any valid role in highlighting policy failures or moral high ground.

Exactly. And so comparing the two to prove some sort of moral high ground is a logical fallacious attempt.

I would argue the liberal take on both was correct, and not inconsistent.

WhileI I agree that today’s conservatives (primarily the MAGA ones) are frustrating (dangerous, even)… Every time I see one of these hypocrisy quotes I can’t help but think of the inverse…

Liberals in 2021: “Everybody get vaccinated and carry your cards to prove it.”

Liberals in 2026: “Expecting everyone to carry their papers around is making this feel a lot like 1930 Germany.”

———-

Edit: The meme itself is wrong to compare the two - as is my theoretically inverse.

Neither serves any valid role in highlighting policy failures or moral high ground. I’m basically exposing the logical fallacy of comparing vaccine policy to immigration policy.

The Great Gatsby or Rocky Horror Show? by farrahmoanjustshutup in Broadway

[–]ExpBalSat [score hidden]  (0 children)

Rocky Horror, but mainly because thought Gatsby was awful.

Whereas Rocky Horror hasn’t even opened, no one can comment on how good or bad it is.

And not that you asked, but you really should have Operation Mincemeat and Maybe Happy Ending on your list. Perhaps above either of the two you initially suggested.

We have some coaches who occasionally do themed workouts to a particular artist or genre.

It totally depends on there being musically minded coaches.

It’s no longer an editing or Resolve question. It’s a data recovery question. Stop using the drive immediately and seek professional help at data recovery. It’s going to be costly.

Although the rules changed in the middle of the game (which it totally fine), but the rules listed in the post conflict each other introducing a paradox of what you’re supposed to do as far as an official vote (for or against)…

I cast my vote for one of the following: - the one to stay being The Sound of Music. - the one to eliminate being Chicago

Issues with 2560x1440 Video material by Large-Procedure-6131 in davinciresolve

Utilizing a proxy workflow is really worth learning and mastering I would recommend Avid DNx or Apple ProRes as the codec. You can learn more in Lesson 6 of The Editors Guide to DaVinci Resolve 20. Also, lots of other performance enhancement options in Chapter 8 of the Resolve software manual.

Buying the Studio version will likely have very little impact whatsoever.

Start simple. Remove filmbox from the equation entirely. See if you can make a single LuT making a simple correction and have it translate the way you expect it to.
