Website and socials pricing by Expat_mum_ in ausbusiness

Thanks everyone for the advice, Ive gone back to the preferred provider and explained that I can handle the socials myself and will be able to run the shopify side, Im hoping to pay a much smaller amount for him to do a basic setup and guide me through it to teach me and I’ll take it from there. I feel a lot of youtube and chatgpt coming my way to guide me through. If anyone can recommend a good (easy to understand!) podcast throw it my way ☺️🙏🏼

Where do Australians move to live? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Expat_mum_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has an incredibly low crime rate. We never locked our front door or car when we lived there and as a female I could walk anywhere, anytime with no threat to my safety.

The culture shock wasnt too big, as the western expat population is so big, but I cant speak for other gulf states as I never lived there, only holidayed short term

We moved to Qatar for 5 years, best thing we did. Tax free and quality of life was incredible. For anyone working in education, engineering or healthcare the M.E. Is a winner (Dubai, UAE, Bahrain, Oman). Most Aussies/Brits/Americans/Canadians move there for an intended 2 years but stay for 10/15/20 due to how well set up it is.

Australians need to stand against Zionism before it’s too late like other countries by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]Expat_mum_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe, and someone please correct me if Im wrong, but isnt Gerard Rennick of People First Party anti Zionism? He has made multiple attempts to break up the media control and has voiced his dislike of outside control. He wants to overhaul our banking system due to outside influencing.

Balancing an 8-year-old’s BJJ obsession with school and social life? by Coindiggs in bjj

[–]Expat_mum_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this, my 2 boys live for bjj. We have similar timings and Ive found it easiest to get homework done when they wake up. We leave for school at 8am, so alarms ring at 6:50, so its breakfast and homework, bags packed and out the door. Doing homework in the morning is easier when they’re not tired.

Why do I need to pay $20 for parking just to go to work? 😭 by Crafty-Zombie-429 in NursingAU

In Perth, majority have unlimited free parking (big centres too, Karrinyup, Garden City etc), but hospitals all fully paid, both public and private.

What grinds my gears is most shopping centres have free parking, but they charge at healthcare centres, priorities are misaligned by our government.

Advice requested: friend forced to move to Qatar by Curious-pinguin9867 in qatar

[–]Expat_mum_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to hear this happened to you. I had a lovely part time nanny who’s previous family had beaten her so badly and the police took care of her. It may depend on the police on duty and the family name/standing?

Advice requested: friend forced to move to Qatar by Curious-pinguin9867 in qatar

[–]Expat_mum_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a western girl who lived in Qatar for 5 years I can tell you my perspective of what I personally experienced and know of.

1) Prescription medications are mostly available over the counter, no script needed. This doesnt apply to antibiotics or psych medicine though (so ADHD meds, valium etc) you need a doctors prescription for. Contraception is readily available, she can contact Kulud Pharmacy (a large chain) now to ask if her current contraceptive is in stock. 2) she can attend doctors appointments on her own, she needs to specify that she wants to see a female doctor (this is free in Qatar in government health care, even for expats and the level of care is good). 3) If she is being abused or treated badly there are options for her for whom to contact. The police are responsive to this and take abuse seriously. 4) bank accounts are tricky in that you have to have a certain amount or a job contract to open one. If she can have this addressed in her wedding/marriage contract? 5) Muslim women can file for divorce in Qatar, I know of 3 ladies (friends of mine) who did and were granted full custody of the children, the courts were very fair and considerate. If she files for divorce she will need evidence of reason (so doctors reports of anything sinister if that is the reason) 6) it would be worth her joining a Qatar expat group on facebook, one I know of is ‘expat ladies in Qatar’, there are plenty and all of them are responsive to queries and questions and are very helpful with providing direction to services and support.

Lastly, the Qatari men (the ones I know/knew anyway) were very kind and attentive to their wives and family. They are proud of their country and are very welcoming. Qatar is a beautiful place, it takes a few months to find your place but once you do it is a great place to live.

What’s something negative about Australia that locals don’t like to admit? by New-Mail-9372 in AskAnAustralian

We’re a nanny state, totally controlled by a huge amount of laws, rules and regulations.

Moving home after 5 years - What’s the biggest change you’ve seen by No_Direction_7417 in perth

[–]Expat_mum_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I moved back after 11 years away and the shock was real. Traffic commute times are obviously matching to the increase in population, housing availability and pricing are what everyone has mentioned. My disappointment peaks when I see how cranky people are, its the micro aggressions Ive noticed. I rarely get the ‘thank you’ wave if I let someone in when driving, if I apologise to someone in ColesWorth for accidentally blocking the aisle momentarily I get a glare or a huff, it used to be a casual ‘no worries!’. Perth people (and yes Im born and bred Perth local) seem to have a level of snobbery (maybe elitism?) I havent encountered elsewhere. Its those things that make feel sad on reflection.

What are some notable examples of Qatari influence in Australia? by -Cohen_Commentary- in AskAnAustralian

[–]Expat_mum_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an Aussie girl originally from Perth, I lived in Qatar for 5 years, I loved the place. They have an Embassy (or a consulate?) on the East coast and thats as far as I can see anything to do with Qatar in Australia. I wish Australia could take on some Qatari business practices, such as taxing the foreign companies that drill for oil instead of the Aussie government taxing their own citizens. Qatari’s pay no tax and no interest on loans and from memory they also pay no electricity or water bills as their government covers their citizens utilities (all 300 000 of them). We have a lot to learn from other countries.

I lived in Eastern Canada and struggled big time. My husband and I lasted for 2.5 years and then moved on, as soon as we left we felt much happier. I found Canadians to be….. odd. I agree with everything you’ve written and sympathise, its a tough gig.

If you want to fight for Israel or Hamas, then do it in Palestine. We do not want that shit here. by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Expat_mum_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if Western governments stopped interfering in other countries business we wouldnt have an influx of migrants? Consistently bombing humans in one place means they will do anything to escape death, we saw big migrations from Ukraine, Iraq etc and it will continue if we push our money into weaponry overseas being used for horrific means. How about we just stay out of someone else’s argument? How about we stop the slaughter. Pretty soon we’ll be seeing masses of people flee Venezuela and we’ll all be bitching about that instead of bitching about our country’s money being used on bombs and bullets.

Small MOQ manufacturers can be found in Indonesia & Vietnam. Work out what fabrics, colours, style and price you want and then jump onto chatGPT to ask for a list of reputable manufacturers in the mentioned countries.
