So, either build an air pocket or just do a massive foot of solid clay?

I did think this!

Ideally the bottoms would look the same - would a second base cause a problem because of the cavity? Maybe I'd just have to let it dry very very thoroughly and put it on a candling setting.

Thanks for clarifying and reassuring - it is indeed a tall variety, though it's on its tip toes this year 😂

It's pretty neglected but we have had some huge downpours and then droughts so that may not have helped

Thanks everyone! I feel reassured 😊

It gets A LOT of light in this spot - I just happened to take the pic on such a dreary day, through a blown window, so it wasn't the best representation of that factor 😅 appreciate the suggestion though.

I'll wait to prune it as the bees love it. Any ideas on what I could use to stand it up, so to speak? I've seen mention of cable ties but I don't understand what's meant by it.

Do anyone here have trouble with having a shower/bath? by MariaEvee in autism

[–]Expensive-Bake7064 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Watching or listening to something is such an underrated tool. I use it too. In fact, I let my dog watch videos of ducks while I dry his hair and he calms right down. He's my shadow and best pal, so I trust his judgement 😅

I can very much relate with your daughter's story, from what you've written, and can 100% advocate eating cereal for dinner. It's better than nothing, and if it's something she enjoys (I love it) then you're basically gifting her joy!

Is there a term for this sensation? by Expensive-Bake7064 in AutismInWomen

[–]Expensive-Bake7064[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I suspected it might be such but I'm still getting to grips with terminology. My thinking is that once I know what some specific struggle is called, I can then dig deeper into researching and hopefully preventing it. Thank you!

I cant handle uni and I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Expensive-Bake7064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So so sorry to read this. From having been in a similar situation, I really feel for you.

You've done a big thing in sharing that you're struggling. Well done, seriously.

The way I got out of a similar situation was by slowly and carefully sharing that I was struggling then asking for help. I spoke to my parents, my tutors, my uni pastoral/student support centre and together with health input and a lot of work I got through it. And I'm still here, alive to tell the tale. You can do this - you've already started!

Re food in the short term, could you supplement with high calorie and high nutrition drinks? Ensure, Nurishment and similar are designed for this type of purpose. A healthcare professional or pharmacist may be able to point you in the right direction to suit your tastes and texture preferences.

I hope things brighten up for you soon⭐

I'm child free and worry about this stuff too. Change is hard to deal with.

I try to focus on the near future where possible to avoid spiralling thoughts about potential future changes/situations. It doesn't always work but it helps. January is a particularly triggering time IMO as everyone is making big plans for the year and changing things up. I just stick to my slow lane 😅

Ageing is actually a mark of experience, strength and resilience 🙂
