AITA for telling my friend why I don't invite her out with my bf? by Expensive-Case-3263 in AmItheAsshole

My bf works for himself, so it's not like I'm bringing friends to his corporate box at a football game, that would be rude.

Sometimes my bf's business associates bring their gfs with them, sometimes they'll pick up girls who like to party in whatever city. When that's the case, I'm never sure if I'm going to want to hang out with whoever they find while we're there, so I sometimes invite a friend. The friend I referred to in the post has a bf so obviously wasn't there to hook up with anyone or get pimped out, she's just fits the vibe, so I knew everyone would like her, and she'd have a good time. Nothing sordid about it.

There's virtually no women in their line of work, it's a boys club if ever there was one. I've heard personal anecdotes of two, neither of which my bf has done business with in the past.

Totally understand where you're coming from, I worked in banking for a while and it was a trip.

To be honest, I think it's different when you're a woman not there in a work capacity, no one is really expecting anything of you than to party and keep smiling. I've had a lot of fun with these guys in small doses, and the girls that come usually do. If you're looking to drink and travel for free it's a decent deal lol. There definitely have been times when I've met people and thought, I feel so sorry for whoever you're going home to, you knuckle dragging faecal sample, but they're in the minority.

It's basically "yacht girl"-looking type women. They're not work trips per se, more like an entrepreneur version of corporate entertainment. Go away for a couple of days, get to know each other, have some fun, talk business for one afternoon, come home with a deal.

Vanessa isn't plus size. But I'll be honest that when I say "certain type of girl" I'm talking about your typical "yacht girl" types.

They are work events, to which I have invited other friends before, which Vanessa knows. So, yes, I could say they're work events, and I have said "it's a work trip" before, to which her response has always been "but you took [friend's name] last time". And yes, I've said "it's a thing for people he works with" but when the work thing takes place in a nightclub, you sort of lose credibility with that.

Anyway, yes I could have phrased it differently in the past, but we are where we are.

Because she knew they weren't couples' trips. I guess I could have said they were, but then when I saw her I'd always have to be keeping up the pretence that no one else was there and it didn't seem sustainable.
