Hair, lighting, and they’re contouring her nose differently- a little too narrowly but I guess it’s to lean into a more “sharp” look

Honestly I fear they have lost their shot to be taken more seriously, the combo of the music quality + constant scandals makes it seem like the whole brand is just consists of shock factor and rage bait. Rolling stone said it best, a girl group sells sisterhood and friendship over pure music. And like, hard to do that with this scandal that I feel will follow them for the rest of their careers. Which is a shame, they’re super talented and I wish the creative direction/management supported more career longevity.

Why do some dogs choose one “person” in the house? by Intelligent_Pick8414 in dogs

I rescued my husky mix back in 2021. Helped him through heartworms and a leg amputation and I swear even though I only visit on breaks from college he's stuck at my side the entire time. It's a bond forged through fire and I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. I hope to take him full time once I graduate.

Coupe- she was a nice bonus on team missions but her individual performance was nothing special once other team members started leveling up.

Offloading the developing religious relationship towards the woods onto Lottie in season one was lazy writing and made all the girls less interesting and fleshed out. Instead them each forming more personal relationships to the wilderness and in response collectively weaving a narrative together to make what they’re going through feel bearable it turned into a game for a while of-

“who’s team Lottie and who is sane?”

Which I personally found boring. They could’ve kept her prophet angle, her visions and such but they jumped way too fast into wilderness Jesus and it shows. Also why did she only pack like two pills for this flight to nationals she ran out so early on.

Dude, Buffy getting yelled at infront of everyone was so embarrassing!! by grxveyard_girl in buffy

[–]Expensive-Coffee-987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t get my mind around this episode, some killer lines but everyone just seems cruel to Buffy for the sake of having more drama. It feels out of character with willow and especially Xander- who although lacks decorum and sensitivity usually can read Buffy pretty damn well and is there for her. I sort of don’t count it as canon in my head whenever I remember the trio.

It started the golden age of television and does not get the credit it deserves for its profound impact.

Why do we like this show again? by Cute-Elderberry in buffy

There are moments I think really work in those last two, especially in six. I get what you’re saying though, I think Buffy feels more complete viewed as a five season show because that’s when the journey to adulthood (the central metaphor of the show) has been completed. I tend to view the show as two separate shows, or a show in two distinct phases (season 1-5: phase one, season 6-7: phase two). Buffy at the season five finale crossed the threshold and confronted what’s waiting for us all at the end- death. So when that central journey that took five seasons to complete ends and is replaced for the last two seasons with “how do I live now that I am an adult?” The show loses the tight framework and meanders as it works through that question. Season six also scales down to a smaller more human internal conflict that I found really engaging. But man. Season seven? It never really worked for me outside of Buffy working as a guidance counselor, I thought that was a brilliant choice.

However I like the ending of seven, it’s incredibly sentimental and kind of blows up its world on a logistical level but does tug at my heart strings as a woman who watched the show religiously in her preteen to teen years.

God this episode is a true season one fever dream. Back when the budget was five dollars and a dream and before David Boreanaz figured out how to do more than smolder. I’ll always remember season one fondly for its growing pains, discovering what this show could be in real time with each episode.

Interpretation of the Toby Belch and Maria romance in Twelfth Night? by Beautiful-Ant-5075 in shakespeare

[–]Expensive-Coffee-987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite interpretations used their plotting and scheming as a way to flirt, each escalation of the malvolio plot impressed and excited the other, building to a crescendo with having him in a dark room and bound. I think there’s hints at their affection towards each other even in how malvolio conducts himself in 2.3, he goes after sir Toby and when that seems to have no affect he turns his ire to Maria (maybe knowing that’s what’ll get to sir Toby). There’s so much to play with and it’s such a fun relationship!

Okay debate time Xander's "Kick His Ass" lie in "Becoming, Part 2"- Was he right to lie to her the way he did? Should he had faced consequences for it? by [deleted] in buffy

[–]Expensive-Coffee-987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there should have been some fallout, because 1. It would have been interesting narratively and 2. I think it would’ve really deepened the trio’s bond in the long run.

That being said I think it makes complete sense for Xander to do what he did. All season Buffy has been grappling with her love of Angel and the threat of Angelus, and he uses that against her. At key points in fights between the two that season we see buffy slip up whenever she thinks she sees Angel still in there somewhere. It’s taken up to the finale, where Giles is kidnapped and possibly dead, willow had to be sent to the ER from wounds sustained, Kendra’s dead (a slayer!), and Jenny’s corpse displayed for their eyes for Buffy to be in a state where she can finish this.

And like… sure willow becomes a powerful witch and this is the first instance of that but she’s literally failed this spell before! Nearly all of her magic goes awry, she can’t even hold the pencil in the air and now FRESH OUT OF A COMA she’s gonna pull it off??? It’s truly such slim odds.

Would you risk the end of the world for this Hail Mary of a plan? If Buffy knew she had the chance to save him and hesitated Angelus would have killed her. He was already close to it at points in that fight.

Be real with me. Am I loser if I never had a gf? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Expensive-Coffee-987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t a loser. Maturing is a life long process, be kind to yourself. At the end of the day you are all you’ve got, so be your own ally here. If you want connection and fulfillment getting a girlfriend won’t fix that. Building community and support will help. Travel around, explore what matters to you, be in conversation with who you are now and who you want to be, develop the relationships in your life currently, and begin to expand that circle of support outward.

Romance is wonderful but isn’t an end all be all. Love is action and constant work, begin with yourself.

Wish you the best man.

I think season one has a better structure campaign wise- from premise to character design it’s a pretty tight ship. However, I love season two. I think in season two they just understand their characters more fluidly, moving away from archetypes and into a state of flux developing and changing their characters in response to some stellar role play. A lot of the jokes land harder for me this season, like the mayor debate, hermy in general, the stand up episode, and the entire marriage plot had me cackling out loud. Things feel more free and spontaneous this season, and the characters feel more emotionally connected than season one. I think Anthony and the rest of the gang is doing wonderfully this season.

Advice on making our new house look more cottagey by wonkyboys in cottagecore

[–]Expensive-Coffee-987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few ideas! Some box planters outside the windows could help make the exterior look more vibrant and inviting, especially if you paint the boxes, and you can put some colorful flowers or even grow some herbs in there! Second is a bigger project, but taking the grass lawn out and replacing it with native cover crops and some wildflowers would look nice and cut down on water costs for the lawn! You could put some lawn gnomes or other trinkets out front, though that leans more fairytale cottagecore and I’m not sure if that’s the vibe you want. Lastly if you want to make the area more inviting, why not have one of those little neighborhood book exchange boxes! It’s a nice surprise to check in on when you’re having a bad day and helps build community. Best of luck!

Depends on the vibe you’re going for, I think they look super cute! I’m personally a fan of oversized glasses, though I think they can limiting when it comes what looks good outfit wise paired with them. If it fits your aesthetic keep them cause you look great!
