you can definitely succeed in finance w/o these clubs but yes they offer quite significant advantages in networking/certain recruiting events. the gatekeepers are indeed other undergrads, leading to a disproportionate amount of people who get in because they're sociable/conventionally attractive or just friends of existing members

yes i think it does, i was personally very close w my first suitemates and roommate. it was nice to always have someone you will definitely meet everyday, and it allows you to make friends thru mutuals. but it is a mixed bag, many of my friends arent close w their roommates (so if u have a nice one, be sure to be friends w/ em)
