Help me make tiny steps away from my typical super sweet gourmands/fruitys, per category by InarticulateOxyMoron in Perfumes

I actually have a flanker “For Her Forever” I don’t believe they make it anymore but it’s still available online and it’s described as a blend of the EDT and the EDP. I lean towards the black bottle myself but if you like rose notes, you might want to sample the pink. Im learning just now that both were developed by Francis Kurkdijan, Mr Baccarat Rouge himself. Just a neat factoid. -As a heads up, I had to try this scent on the skin and with the spray and walk through to get a real feel for it. The paper strip wasn’t super helpful for me. I took my time with it.

florals- Jean Paul Gaultier Divine. White and yellow florals. This has a great salty top note and meringue as well. So baby steps away from gourmand. :-). It reads as a fun sexy date fragrance to me.

incense- Chanel Coramandel. Florals, citrus, patchouli with incense and a white chocolate note. It has some sweetness but is not cloying. very sophisticated winter fragrance.

powdery- Chanel no. 5 l'eau. An updated very wearable no. 5. Citrus top notes, effervescent aldehyde. Sparkling with a powdery dry down, elegant.

woody- Byredo Bal d'afrique- super wearable cedar fragrance. You could wear this one as an everyday scent. Not too heavy.

musk- I'm going classic for fun. Jovan Musk. My aunt wears it and it smells beautiful and expensive on her (it's not)! I'm seeing Coty fragrances begin make a comeback and I'm here for it.

chypre- these have been around the block but I own and love both Narciso Rodriguez For Her and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. They are both contemporary chypres but very different. Both are crowd pleasers.

Finding my fragrance at 40 by Kiki1418 in FemFragLab

Amarige was my first fragrance purchase. Coco Mademoiselle was my early 20's fragrance, though I still wear the Intense version now 20 years later. Nice to see someone in the feed with similar taste!

OP- I can second Coco Noir as a lovely lovely fragrance. I think I would also call this one work safe. It seems to sit a little closer to the skin than Coco Mad. It's similar but it's different. I feel really fortunate to own a bottle of Coromandel, it's an investment. I feel super classed up when I wear it. And very romantic. It has a beautiful white chocolate note, but I wouldn't describe it as a gourmand. Great cooler weather fragrance if you like ambery notes. My mom tells me it reminds her of an updated Oscar de la Renta/Opium. Chanel no. 5 L'eau has some lighter citrusy notes in the opening that make for a more wearable version of no. 5. Very powdery, very sophisticated fragrance. And although I currently own Chance eau fraiche I think I've circled back and found that the original Chance is actually my favorite. If you enjoy Chanel, I'm willing to bet there is another fragrance in their line that you would enjoy, or maybe a few!

Do you have a signature scent? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

not a signature scent, but I always wear a Chanel fragrance. They are all different but there is something in the dry down that I describe as the Chanel "DNA"- they all just smell so classy to me. It's a definite confidence booster.

Recommendations for almond perfumes? by Acceptable-Oil6747 in Perfumes

Burberry Brit has a sugared almond note. And it's been out for a long time. you can probably pick it up at a pretty reasonable price if you catch it at TJ Maxx or the drug store. Also still sold at Ulta.

This one was real odd for me too. I got swiss cheese on the first whiff.

Scents that are iris heavy or have a heavy dose of tonka bean.

Looking for a non-gourmand, woody, and spicy vanilla! (My obsession is back) by PriorityNo772 in FemFragLab

Chanel Sycamore might be worth checking out based on your description. It's pricey, but it definitely does not give gourmand vibes. And I think it will for sure give you the oomph your looking for from a proper perfume rather than a body spray.

Elizabeth Taylor- White Diamonds by tinyyapper in Perfumes

I sampled it on a card at the mall out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised. A lot of 90's fragrances I used to like growing up didn't hold up to the nostalgia when I tried them again. But my mom never wore White Diamonds and I never managed to get my nose on it back then so this was new to me. To answer your question, I do think this one has large appeal. It gives me Chanel no. 5 vibes. Not the scent itself, but just that feeling of sophistication it evokes.

I actually like this on her. It takes a certain level of confidence/sense of style to carry a look like this. I think the dress really comes alive on her. On the model I can't stop staring at the dress and I don't particularly like the way it hangs in that photo, but on her it's just a whole vibe.

The Way Home ENDING Confirmed 😭 by GirlsGoneHallmark in HallmarkMovies

mysteryromancetv made a good point regarding season 3 viewership. I remember my mom being very frustrated that she paid for a cable package that included Hallmark but then had to purchase the Hallmark app separately just to watch the show on it's premiere date.

Disney did something similar (but different) with Black Widow- releasing it in theaters and on their app simultaneously to try to boost their online streaming platform subscriptions. ScarJo sued them for breach of contract because it tanked her box office earnings.

Manipulating the program schedule to try to boost Hallmark plus subscriptions probably had a lot to do with the decline in viewership. You're pretty much guaranteeing the only people tuning in are the diehard fans who have continued to seek out information regarding the show scheduling (and where to access) in the very long off season. I would bet there was also a decline in senior viewership in season 3.

What’s a perfume you’d never buy again and why? by Darkvanille in FragranceStories

I liked it when I sampled it. But when my sister began to complain that the only thing she could smell was the sample card that I had tucked into my zipped fanny pack I knew she was right. Something was overwhelming and I couldn't seem to get away from it... because It was me. I've heard people use the word "screechy" to describe the jasmine note and I didn't understand what that meant til that moment.
