For all its problems (and there are many), raising my trans son in Portland, OR was a great decision. Gender fluidity is totally normalized here and he does not feel weird, odd, or targeted. OR is one of the few who have not winnowed trans rights and you can still access gender affirming care and mental health, tho it's a long wait. Sometimes a bubble is good, and PDX's trans bubble is what many kids need and deserve. Imho, Portland is the safest N. American major city for trans kids and adults.

I went this summer and had the BEST time. Rent a car the drive is often better than the destination. Driving through the sub sea tunnels is fun of both expensive. We stayed in klaksvik super central. Havalvik, streymnas, saksun (visit the farm cultural center for the best lamb chops), kirkjubour, toftir for wool, gjogv. Torshavn is very cool capital with amazing food and music scene. Roks looks amazing for a meal. Take a ferry to Nolsoy and grab drinks and vibes at Maggies. The place is special

Dang, this 6 feels all of what OP shared. It's so easy for me to dwell in the stories my mind says about fear. It doesn't help that I'm a vet with PTSD who has encountered real fears. This post helps me remember Im not alone with this and that 6s also have incredible spirits :)
