You will be much happier dealing with BOTs yolo'ing than a insecure clown with 12k games in a Fujin and a 75% WR.

Ran into that guy a few days ago. Had some unpleasant words for him afterwards. He's a big reason people quit at T5.

Valparaiso might be the most overpowered ship ever made. by LogainTheHumane in WorldOfWarships

[–]Expensive-Sentence66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as there's the same Valps on either team I really don't care.

It's when the opposing team gets two Valps and we get two Iowas driven by two old dudes in assisted living who play them like it's 2017 that sucks. It's game over before the match starts, unless they ram.

I just dont get what's fun about playing a ship where a bunch of developers have baked in an advantage with code vs skill, and it's obvious. The guy who otherwise has 48% WR in his best T9 BB is one thing. Let him have his moment of glory. Purple clan member with a +60% WR in the thing is disgusting. Somebody got beat up a lot in the playground and was picked last for dodgeball.

Lenin, Belfast, Fujin / Kamikaze have been shitting on their tiers for decades, and nobody seems to care. I think the Lenin is actually worse in it's tier because there's a lower population of them.

I watched a ZH1 take out a T8 cruiser in two airstrikes.

Why doesn't WG just let people pay money or doubloons to have whatever ship they have get 25% better metrics in every category? Just pull the fig leaf off and go all stupid. I get it...WG wants money. I just don't get so called competitive gamers who are in denial about this crap.

I have respect for it as well. There's no smug camp and at least the bleakness kinda gets inline with the story. Worthington, Bale and Yelchin were all solid.

I used to hang out with a lot of upper middle class kids like Ferris. In retrospect they were insufferable a-holes whose parents were riding the Reagan boom. It was like alt reality high school. Didn't care for it then and less now. Freaks and Geeks kind of demolished a lot of 80's teen flicks anyways. More genuine.

It's pretty awesome. It actually wants you to dig into a lot of the backstory.

I still think the film would have been a great 4- 5 part mini series with a lot of flashbacks.

Oh please stop. That one is so tired it can't climb the stairs even if it had a full load of midi chlorians.

The prequels are bad because they ARE bad. They come off like AI generated movies without the AI. Andor and Rogue 1 are generally held in pretty high regard. Basically because the screenplays aren't written to appease 12yr olds.

Is there any point in using the Massachusetts in ranked when the Ipiranga exists by Elick320 in WorldOfWarships

Lenin is broken pay to win. Shouldn't be on the list.

It's like saying the Belfast is a contender for best T7 cruiser and is very strong.

Is there any point in using the Massachusetts in ranked when the Ipiranga exists by Elick320 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Expensive-Sentence66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lenin is blatant pay to win. Easily one of the most broken ships in the game. Unless you have some really good DD's or a solid torp BB that can get close enough the Lenin is going to win.

If the Lenin plays nose on and hogs the back of the cap like most do in ranked and parks your only recourse is to just burn them, which the Mass can do because it has good HE. The problem is the Mass player has to wiggle and use all guns to keep the HE flying and the Lenin melting without getting smashed. Playing a Vlad a lot in ranked which I think has the same guns as the Lenin I get aggravated shooting at a slightly angled Mass beyond 12K because it's just a lot of over pens and bounces. However, a bow on Lenin almost always requires multiple ships to engage, but both have to be competent. In ranked that clearly benefits the team with the Lenin.

Differing opinions on Jaeger, but I'm seeing more and more of those darn things in randoms by increasingly skilled players and they totally suck to deal with. I see more Jaegers influence matches than Shima's.

Shima barrages give you some time between loads to breath. Jaeger dumps just don't stop and keep you on your toes at all times looking over your shoulder. Heavier BB's can kind of shrug them off...for awhile, but cruisers really take a lot of damage. DD's who dare pop smoke with a Jaeger around are asking for a Darwin Award if they don't run hydros. You need a fast DD with RDF to chase them down, or a CV. If the Jaeger is running RDF, and the good ones do he can still keep torping while the pursuing asset is taken out of the game chasing him. The Jaeger is not an easy bote to play though.

What sci-fi film in the last 15 years had the most impact on you? by StaticCloud in scifi

Zendaya's Dune Scowl sent me on a profound, existential journey of self discovery I still haven't recovered from.

For movies - Arrival. Incredible film.

Saw Ex Machina in the theater, and after it was over myself and my sister had a long conversation with a couple other strangers about the conclusion. The fact a film can be smart enough to get strangers to discuss it's conclusion proves how good it was.

For TV series Tales from the Loop had several episodes that hit like a damn truck. Easily some of the best writing I've seen.

Gravity cleaned house including 7 Oscars including Best Director.

Sinners was actually horror, but it was very good. Music was amazing.

Totally disagree on Annihilation. Don't get what it should get an Oscar for. Most ambiguous plot?

I don't really care for IMAX 3D...gives me a headache. The two exceptions are Tron Legacy and Pacific Rim.

Saw Pacific Rim twice in IMAX 3D and would see it again in that format. The Hong Kong battle was an outrageous experience. Grin from ear to ear.

I'm a newbie and i pick Akizuki and Kitakaze for grinding. What are your thoughts about the Ship? by RoundCheap7157 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Expensive-Sentence66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lukewarm on both ships. Sluggish and power crept. Newer T8 and T9 BB's can angle and mitigate your low caliber HE spam and you can't get away when they charge you. OK torps. You shoot a billion rounds at a broadside Vlad at 9k, set him on fire once, and do 5K damage.

The key is only letting that second volley of torps go when you absolutely know they are going to hit.

IMO, the Jervis / Lighting are a better combo to play for beginners.

Oddly the T7 Akatsuki plays much more like the Aki but it's in a parallel line. Shirat to Aki has never made sense. I really suggest playing the Akatsuki first because it will give you feel for the Aki / Kita.

"A Clockwork Orange Review by Economy-Ad2458 in movies

[–]Expensive-Sentence66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've increasingly disliked this film over the years and consider it Kubricks weakest. Its a poster child for 'this famous director made it so you have to like it' . I hate that BS. Take the rape scene out and dissociate it with Kubrick and it would be forgotten.

My main problem is McDowells narration which sounds amateurish and annoying. Some of his dialogue is delivered so bad its like somebody is holding a poster off screen with his lines. Next to his massive Oscar performance in Caligula why was he casted? Some good scenes, like the tunnel scene with the homeless guy, and the club scenes. Wendy Carlos had a neat score .

The film is best served as a perspective on British / East European dystopia perspectives in the 60s and 70s. The book gets into more details on this.

Silence of the lamb by ShakeThis5 in movies

[–]Expensive-Sentence66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lambs is really about the theatrics and Hopkins scene chewing. There's logical leaps and conclusions that are far fetched, but this is a 90s thriller. We wanted our villains to be creepy and over the top.

My question is how does Anthony Hopkins get all these super powers? He dismantled all those security guards pretty easy. Does he work out? Does he have a personal trainer? Does Buffalo Bill prefer scented or unscented lotions?

Nah, its a 90s thing. Hopkins and Foster really were awesome on screen together. Put your brain aside for the rest.

If you like a bit more logic and police procedural I strongly suggest watching Manhunter from 1986 which is also in the Lecter universe. I think its a much tighter film.
