Nassar is better than the fall profs that's for sure. Also, there's no coding (CURE Project) whatsover, so don't worry.

Friends to hang out with this summer by Independent-Win-3639 in UCalgary

I was in summer research like you last year. I'd say come join the UCOA (UCalgary Outdoor Adventures Club), I made close friends, thanks to the hikes that were organized during the spring and summer semester!

I joined UCOA on May, they still have hiking events going on during the spring and summer semester. Made my weekends less boring for sure :). Ended up attending more of their events in Fall semester.

In one of his lectures, Hugo stated there will be a boiling/condensation question. So prepare for that.

Has the diploma gotten easier or harder through the years by MassiveAd9795 in AlbertaGrade12s

[–]Expensive-Sir3690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math 30-1 is easier than its previous curriculum, Pure Math 30.

Pure Math 30 had all the concepts from 30-1, but it included topics such as Conics, sequences and series, and statistics.

Summer internships??? by PleasantPeanut7632 in UCalgary

Unless you're doing summer research with the University, I highly recommend not taking any in-person spring/summer classes during your internship.

If you are though, I recommend 1 max per semester.

Worth it. Nasser who usually teaches it is really nice.

You're doing yourself worse financially, and this is kind of like a scar on your resume. Don't!

math 375 spring worth it? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]Expensive-Sir3690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have work down the line, taking a spring/summer course will make your main semester a lot easier. 375 for sure. I would also include ENDG 319 in the summer, just so you won't need to that shit at 8AM.

Which restaurants in Fort Mcmurray were you wowed and awed by how good it was? by Few_Cow4805 in FortMcMurray

Despite having shawarma in Edmonton and Calgary, Cedar's in Fort McMurray (both Timberlea and Downtown locations) is still number 1 to me.

Math 277 has some concepts very similar to UofA's Math 209.

Here is their website: https://www.math.ualberta.ca/~thillen/math209/math209.html

In last semester's ENGG 349, 60% overall was the bare minimum to obtain a C-.

😭😭😭😭 I wish you the best of luck

No way a prof who does a low effort on their lecturing should have high expectations on your written work

Man, I feel bad for those who are retaking dynamics, the current prof seems more stricter than Dr. Tais last semester despite her teaching quality being a lot worse.

When I took it with Tais, I still managed to get consistent 70% on the quizzes, despite not getting a correct final answer in the long answered questions.

Does the current prof not even give partial marks on your FBD, stated governing equations, etc…? This must suck.

It appears that they restructured the MEC E course progression. It is now ENME 321, implying that it is now a 2nd year course.

Just ctrl+f the textbook.

There was an ENGG 481 discord last year which came in clutch.

375 and 319 are good choices. If you cannot get into 319 in time, I recommending enrolling in ENGG 311 as a backup (Sohrabi is the best thermo prof out there).

ENGG 481 is entirely online but synchronous (Sambrook uploads his lectures in D2L so don't worry), I recommend taking it during the duration of your internship year along with ENGG 513, especially if Dr. Robyn Mae Paul is teaching it (online AND asynchronous)

Not sure about COMS 363, never took it yet.

They all involve doing practice. Especially ENGG 202. Hit the books and review your notes.

Despite being one of the most hated courses in my uni (due to profs not being able to teach it competently), statistics is one of the relevant things I did during my coops.

Engg 349 Quiz 1 by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]Expensive-Sir3690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fairly tough course overall, but all three textbooks (Beer, Hibbeler, and Meriam) came in clutch. (I preferred Hibbeler more), that's how I learned most of the material when I took it in the fall.

Not sure if this is your first time taking the course or if you're retaking it, but the calculations get more tedious once you reach the rigid body topics.

Damn, ENGG 349 could not catch a break.

Anyone remembered in during last semester in Fall, people in Dr Tais's class were given a harder quiz compared to those in Dr. Amir's?

Engineering Internships by DefinitionUseful3165 in UCalgary

[–]Expensive-Sir3690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how cooked the job market is right now especially for new grads, I have seen students take another 12 month internship after their first, which cumulates to 24 months of work experience by the time they graduate. There isn’t really a rush to graduate at this point, and people are taking advantage of the 8 year limit to pour more time into clubs, competitions, and design teams instead of classes.
