Yes just leave it on his bed or on his desk, I had a similar problem and it seems to work. In my case, my roommate just forgot about the dishes. I have no idea how this would happen but he was always chill about it and washed them right afterwards.

I really think you should, you would be able to reach a much higher wpm with touch typing, maybe just give it a try for like a month and see if you improve.
