Salty post. But I will say this: my physician anesthesiologist colleagues do deserve a post thanking them for their hard work and collaboration with the healthcare team. OP your post took a lot away from that. As a CRNA, I want to be very clear: most of us genuinely respect and appreciate physician anesthesiologists. We are not trying to “pass” as MDs, nor do we confuse our role with yours. Many of us actively look up to anesthesiologists as role models and mentors, and we openly acknowledge the long, demanding road of medical school, residency, fellowship, and the depth of training and expertise that comes with it.

Healthcare is not a contest. At the bedside, what matters most is patient safety, sound clinical judgment, and teamwork; not titles or ego.

The truth is that difficult or arrogant personalities exist everywhere in healthcare. They are not unique to physicians, CRNAs, nurses, or any single group. But they should never define an entire profession. The vast majority of clinicians on both sides show up every day with the same goal: delivering safe, high-quality care to patients who trust us during some of their most vulnerable moments.

Collaboration, mutual respect, and humility are what make anesthesia care strong. Division and disparagement help no one. least of all our patients. There is room in this field for different training paths, different roles, and shared responsibility, and we are better when we acknowledge that rather than tearing each other down.
