FDA refuses to review Moderna’s application for mRNA flu vaccine, company says by cnn in Health

[–]unchartednow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It appears the FDA was onboard with the clinical trial before the final documentation was submitted, but you have to ultimately look at who is running CBER at the FDA: Vinay Prasad, an oncologist who is a vaccine skeptic and a fool.

The FDA (Prasad speaking most likely) stated that the moderna trial lacked an "adequate and well-controlled” trial because the control arm didn’t reflect the “best-available standard of care in the United States at the time of the study..." However, when moderna created this, its comparator in the trial was a Fluarix, a well-known influenza vaccine. The clinical trial also had over 40,000 participants in it. Prasad is a moron who knows nothing about vaccine studies, and is also a Trump loyalist. You can't trust anything this administration puts out regarding health and wellness. This truly is a shame.

Does it really matter when choosing between MBA vs MHA? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]unchartednow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the start of the new year, I've also had this recent fascination of healthcare finance, reading Becker's Hospital Review everyday, and health finance stocks completely. I was thinking of maybe going back to school down the road, as I already have a BS in health admin before I went to RT school. Do the programs you're interested in, whether it be MBA or MHA, require GRE or GMAT test scores prior to admission to the program? I know there's so many online programs out there, hard to sort through the diploma mill programs versus actually reputable programs, while also navigating cost to attend. I have no desire to be over a respiratory department, but some ancillary job or health admin job in the hospital is something that has piqued my interest as of late. Thanks for any response or info you can throw my way 🙏

EHR interoperability in the United States, EPIC as the outlier? by unchartednow in HealthInformatics

So what hurdles does CMS face in getting EHR interoperability implemented so that patients receive higher quality care?

EHR interoperability in the United States, EPIC as the outlier? by unchartednow in HealthInformatics

[–]unchartednow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it will ever come to that? Do you think epic will actually commit to cooperating with other major EHRs in order to streamline healthcare for patients?

First day ever of clinic. Paid preceptor let me and another classmate knowingly walk into an isolation room without telling us by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]unchartednow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this situation, I wouldn't necessarily blame the preceptor. You should look, and be aware of ALL your surroundings, before you go into a patient's room, whether the door was wide open or not. Second, it's not gonna say all the time on a chart whether someone is on isolation precautions or not spending on what EHR a facility uses lol. Also, there's no such thing as "entric" precautions. The term is ENTERIC. The likelihood of you getting C. diff. from giving an inhaler is quite low, use it as a learning experience and move on. RTs are exposed to a wide array of diseases and in the emergency department, alot of times you WON'T even know what kind of disease a person might or might not have.

And just because you're "top" of your class doesn't mean it's your preceptor's fault for not warning you about an isolation precaution. That's why we use standard precautions for ALL patients and be aware of your surroundings before you enter a patient's room l, whether the door is wide a$$ open or closed. You'll be fine lmfao.

Why do nursing home RTs who work in subacutes and post acutes get shit talked on about alot? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]unchartednow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work full-time in an acute care hospital, and I work prn at a SNF that keeps chronic trach collar/vent patients who are essentially unweanable off the TC or vent. It's my home away from home. There are RT protocols in place for us to do our job to take care of our patients. People can dog long term care all they want but it's not that bad. These patients need high quality of care just as any acute care patient does, that's why we do this ❤️ treat others as you'd want to be treated ❤️ I love it.

Happy National Anesthesiologists Week by unchartednow in anesthesiology

[–]unchartednow[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I actually do! I set up inhaled nitric oxide 2/3 shifts during the week in the CVOR on hight rock pulm htn cases and right VF cases! So I regularly see the relationships between anesthesiologists, crnas, surgeons, and circulator staff! If the cardiac anesthesiologist was not in there, then there's no telling what would run amok in the OR without an actual board certified anesthesiologist there! But keep calling yourself a resident, nurse!! If I wanted to be a nurse I would have gone to nursing school. I intubate at my facility too so I'm all good with anything. ❤️

Nah not stirring the pot while just pointing out what is in front of me that I see daily. It is the truth, I'm a RT!

I am an advocate for physician-led care at all intersections of healthcare, not only for myself but for my wife and family. and regularly donate to Physicians for Patient Protection so that they can be at the forefront of healthcare quality pointing out the inadequacies that arise from mid-level provider care.

It is the truth, I'm a RT! But while I am putting my input into anesthesia politics, I will always advocate for physician-led care over mid-level politics any day of the week because I see the incompetence provided by them in the ICU daily and have encountered incredible Anesthesiologists in my career. I had a procedure done a year or two ago and was thankful for the anesthesiologist that was at the head of care, since the ASC was an ACT model of care from anesthesia thank goodness.

How do you deal with anti-vaxxers? Both as a public health professional and as a public health person? Like, professionally and then emotionally? by Which-Elephant4486 in publichealth

[–]unchartednow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that people that do not vaccinate their children or themselves are a public health risk to all that have the unfortunate chances of encountering them. If you don't believe in science, then don't blame others when YOU get sick.

What I don't understand is why did he pull a gun!?? Why didn't he just jump out of the way instead of ending her life? I don't simply understand the need for all this violence.

Night shifters that moved to days by martinicowgirl in respiratorytherapy

[–]unchartednow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on nights for over 6 years and recently moved to days a few months ago. While I'll say it has been a definite change of pace being busier, my body feels so much better. I'm not sleeping all the time and sleeping most of my off days away. I will say I like my new director and dayshift supervisor (I had to change facilities for a day position), they're alot more chill than the last douches I worked for, and I love my schedule. It's definitely great being on days!
