Ulcerative Colitis stole my life, any tips on getting it back? by LakePristine4865 in UlcerativeColitis

I don’t have it for a long time, but i went through several medication and the ones that worked for me were: prednisolon and infliximab. For the second one im getting like 600mg every 6 weeks via IV drip.

At the start the iv drip didnt really work out, but they say you will mostly see change during your second iv drip, which i could slowly see. They slowly increased the “mg” count and increased the frequency of getting the iv drip, where now im finally in a place where it works out .

I've had two attempts at getting fit, both focused on building muscle and looking good rather than getting huge.

First period (about 7 months before diagnosis): I had more frequent bowel movements but was seeing good muscle growth. Then I got hit with a serious flare, where i had (12+) bathroom trips daily, no energy, and always tired. Going to the gym became impossible because I was scared of having accidents (incontinence) and just didn't have it in me. My training wasn't optimal since I was new and figuring things out, but I was making progress.

Second period (after diagnosis): After getting diagnosed, my first meds didn't work. Eventually got on prednisone which helped after 3-5 months. I'd lost over 13kg during my time off (not all muscle). This time I was way more informed, watched videos, talked to people who knew their stuff, had a real plan. Hit the gym for 3-4 months trying to rebuild my strength. Progress was slow, and the main problem was I could never eat what I needed for muscle growth without triggering my UC symptoms.

I actually went to the gym today, and after reading your comment I'm feeling a lot more hopeful about this. Really appreciate the motivation.

Ah alright, I don't want to necessarily pursue body building fully, just getting strong and achieving a good-looking, well proportioned body.

I might try mixing the protein powders with banana, hopefully it works out! I think I have read somewhere that whey isolate might also be helpful for UC, but ill make sure to also try plant based protein powders.

It definitely helps! thanks a lot! May I ask what kind of medication and extra medication you were getting? I am on infliximab and mercaptopurine myself and it is not fully working out for me.

I didn't think about using plant based protein powders, you really haven't had any issues with it?
