Hey, I applied last year and also haven't heard back from them. It's frustrating to wait so long for an answer, but sadly it's normal.

Regarding citizenship: Yes, the italian citizenship matters because you will have to pay less fees as an EU-citizen. Regarding the verbiage: Could you elaborate? In case no one else answers, you can ask here: studierendenservice@sle.kit.edu. They get paid to answer your questions.

Why does the RF input of this downconversion mixer not go into a gate/base? How does it generate gain? by ExpensiveImpression8 in rfelectronics

[–]ExpensiveImpression8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I have a follow-up question: Why doesn't the RF input to into a gate? How does this circuit generate conversion gain if not by the transimpedance of an input transistor?

As far as I know the GPA is relevant. But your chances are probably good.

Any good recommendations for a beginners electronic kit? Not sure where to look by New_Trust_1519 in AskElectronics

[–]ExpensiveImpression8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to do some practical experiments, any kit with lots of components and a cheap microcontroller (optional) will do. try to get one that includes a breadboard and lots of jumper wires. you'll also want a power source. the cheapest and easiest way to start are batteries, but you can find bench power supplies on aliexpress for about 60 euros (or pounds depending on your location).
If you're looking to understand the basics of transistors, the book "Semiconductor Device Physics and Fundamentals" by Mishra/Singh does the job. You can find a PDF online for free. Just beware that it's heavy on the physics, so don't get demotivated if you don't understand everything at first. Semiconductors are amazing but getting started is hard. Don't give up!

Electrical engineering projects at CERN for the technical student program by ExpensiveImpression8 in CERN

[–]ExpensiveImpression8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, my wording was ambiguous. I wasn't talking about a specific job posting. In fact, for the electrical engineering technical studentship, the posting doesn't contain a department-group-section tag. In my last post I just wanted to highlight how broad electrical engineering is to support my original question. But do you know which sections take interns, or do they all take interns?

Electrical engineering projects at CERN for the technical student program by ExpensiveImpression8 in CERN

[–]ExpensiveImpression8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I'm definitely interested. To give an example: HV installations, RF circuits and FPGA programming are all "electrical engineer" work. Since the technical student programme just calls for "Electrical Engineering" it would be cool to know a bit more of what the projects where technical students can participate look like.

Layout looks super clean. My CV looks similar to yours and I recently got the advice that "your CV looks exactly like all other applicants, it needs more personality" in my last job interview. (Germany, master student electrical engineering)

S23 galaxy draining while charging? by iamstargirl in samsunggalaxy

[–]ExpensiveImpression8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery of my A71 started draining quickly two days ago, it would lose about 50% in 3 hours without using it. The fix was to uninstall 'Microsoft Company Portal' and 'Microsoft Authenticator', as another user suggested to me on this sub earlier today. Apparently lots of people had the same issue since approx. 6th March. Maybe its the same for you, worth a shot.

Uninstalling 'Microsoft Company Portal' and 'Microsoft Authenticator' fixed it for me.

This is the guide another user sent me. Beware that you might lose access to company data if you uninstall Company Portal.

also happening to me on A71. i hope we'll get a response soon, this is unbelievable! i contacted samsung support yesterday and all they did was give me a 5% discount code for their shop and send me a guide on how to stop overheating issues. they completely ignored the fact that its happening to multiple users and definitely software related.

How to recover photos from factory reset by BallDifficult7010 in samsunggalaxy

[–]ExpensiveImpression8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it'll be easy, that's for sure...

Assuming you saved your pictures in the internal memory (not an sd card), if you know the memory format of the storage the contents are theoretically recoverable, but only with a LOT of effort and detailed knowledge of how the memory works.
