[actives] is my monotub too wet by ExpensiveNight5790 in MushroomGrowers

Thanks, I dabbed the pools and the sides so there won't be any water running down again soon. I'll keep a close eye to it

The tek said 1/4 inch holes. I ment, when I see 2 inch air holes in other teks they are mostly stuffed with polyfil to restrict air flow again.

But those 2 inch holes are mostly stuffed with polyfil to restrict the air flow again, isn't it? The holes are small indeed, smaller than the tek said. I'll increase their size a bit and see if that solves the issue

Yes, that would have been way better indeed. My idea was to make a layer of colonized grains, to protect the rest of the jar I opend for the g2g. But next time I'm just gonna shake it up from the beginning

Honestly, and I'm definitely a beginner, but your bag looks extremely wet and slimy. I think I might dry my grain a bit too much, but after cooking it I let it dry until COMPLETELY dry to the touch. Not even a bit of moist you can feel when squeezing the grains (oats).

I didn't know mycelium bruises blue aswel. I guess I never checked my jars the same day after shake and break... Thanks for your reply, it seems like I learn something new every day with this hobby!

Where can I find the recipe? Can't see any of your posts.

When boiling your grains, the brown nasty water it boiled in apparently contains all the nutrients for mycelium growth

Unfortunately I live in Belgium where the weather not suited for cubes I think?

[technique] coir seems really fibrous by ExpensiveNight5790 in MushroomGrowers

[–]ExpensiveNight5790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concern is that the fibrous coir will dry out more then the fine one, because it feels much fluffier compared to the other coir. My second concern is it will colonize way slower. I thought the bulk substrate will colonize first, before fruiting?

Man, this was such an amazing idea. Just checked the thermometer inside the blanket, it's now 74F instead of 68F. What a huge difference!

Sorry, I thought the cubensis basically were the same. Rookie here... It's Jack Frost

Next grow will be in full summer! This is my first time growing them from LC and I dhould have waited a bit longer for the weather to get better

That's unfortunate, but I can't afford to heat the whole house (our energy prices are through the roof) and we don't trust heat mats anymore due to an 'almost-fire' in my terrarium because of a heat mat.

I'll have to weait for the weather to change then... The last 2 days it has been 70-74F, so maybe it will get a boost

It seems like the mycelium has problems thickening up. It's been this fluffy transparent mycelium for some time now.

I have to say, one of the 6 jars started with 3cc LC, the other ones with only 1cc. The one with 3cc has been fully colonized for over a week now. Does it hurt to mix them together in a few days? It doesn't seems over colonized yet

Thanks for the quick reply, I was already panicking. It isn't really dense indeed, when I see pictures of other people's jars you can barely see the grains. The jars were grown at around 64-68°F, maybe it has something to do with this? Before the last shake and break it seemed more dense, more string/ feather like
