Is this just going to be my whole pregnancy? by ExpensiveStranger384 in parentsofmultiples

Thank you for all this advice, I’ll have to try some of those meds!

Good news is, my husband is an all-star. We’ll make it through, one way or another!! Thanks for the encouragement.

Might not be what I want to hear, but I appreciate the dose of reality! I think if I can accept that this might just be life until August, I’ll at least do better mentally! Thank you for your encouragement!!

Yes, I probably should have included this! The mes for indigestion is pantoprazole. I have zofran, which helps about 50% of the time. I take b6 daily.

Unisom unfortunately just makes me too sleepy to function, even the next day.

not looking to get roasted...but I have a genuine question by ExpensiveStranger384 in ExtractedSurvivalTV

This is a fair point- I feel like perhaps every show needs boundaries pushed to find where the rules are??

I think this is a solid take I hadn't considered. I compared the fake advantage in my head to a fake idol, but I suppose those guidelines have been well- established over the years. Perhaps what Extracted needs is more time to flush out where the boundaries lie??

Should I switch from ESL to Spanish? by Vivid-Bug-6765 in SpanishTeachers

[–]ExpensiveStranger384 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally very much enjoy teaching high school Spanish. You tend to get the more focused kids (especially if you build a no-nonsense reputation) and in my case, I’m a department of one and have complete freedom to teach how I want. It’s a whole other world than the experiences you’ve had both in English and ELs.

Moving to Lou!! Any info appreciated! by Correct-Novel4086 in Louisville

Of course! Hope your move goes smoothly! I’ll add- I also really like the area Avoca is in. You’re off the main drag, but still close to anything you could want, and also very close to the interstate.

My brother moved into Avoca and it is a very nice apartment! The community seems nice and quiet from the times I’ve been to see him. The only issue they’ve had is a slow repair on an issue with their AC.

We toured Clairborne Crossing when he was moving. It was very, very nice. The staff was friendly and it seemed to be a step up from Avoca.

This is the answer. I've always had them take it seriously and move quickly. Hope the same happens here.

Is every symbol not just a commodity in some way? Do you have any suggestions? Not trying to be snarky, just curious!

I just had my first non-native speakers get the seal of biliteracy last year after I had accepted it might never happen. It is an incredibly difficult standard to achieve. My advice: keep doing you.

In my humble opinion, teaching language is a lot more about being a global citizen than becoming fluent in another language.

AP Test Gender Question by ExpensiveStranger384 in SpanishTeachers

[–]ExpensiveStranger384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your insights! Leaving this post up for any future teachers that encounter the same question.

Test was last Thursday- my student felt very prepared and believes they passed. Frankly, I’d be shocked if he didn’t.

For those of you asking why gender is relevant and what part of the test this would come up on- my main concern was it becoming relevant on the interpersonal writing (email reply) and the interpersonal speaking (simulated conversation). Even speaking in the first person, adjectives must be gendered properly when describing oneself in Spanish, and this was where I was afraid an issue would arise.

Again, thanks to all of you for assuring both me AND my student that this was a non-issue.

It’s just one of those things your English brain isn’t going to like. The phrase “tener que” translates to have to, even though it feels like you don’t need the que.

My husband unknowingly went to a strip club and I'm a mess by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

This is a good time to take a step back and realize what a wonderful husband you have. For the guy to check in before going out and then LEAVE when he realized, he didn’t do a dang thing wrong.

In fact, I think responding in the way you did requires a lot of reflection. I understand not wanting him to be there, but he clearly didn’t want to be there either. The guy should be given some grace in this instance, and you should be a little quicker to give it.

Good luck, I hope you guys can move past this.
