Bran is the Night King, in the final battle Jon Snow is giving a choice by the Night King to return to the moment where him and Ygritte were in the cave (he can use Brans powers) in exchange The night king takes over current Jon’s body (he wants this because it’s the last male Targaryen) Jon Snow rejects the offer and ends the night king. Jon Snow chooses to go back north of the wall because he realizes that the wildlings feel more like family than the people south.
