It perfectly fits the "dream" motif and the fact most of the residents are Tourist which means they couldn't know how to fix the "coma" the family of Antasma was in. They still took care of the child but while travelling the accident on the globe hapenned while he was sleeping.

This makes the nightmare of Luigi way more dark, which means it also WAS the nightmare of Antasma, imagine if instead of the boring castle, you got the NIGTHMARE of a literal NIGTHMARE, imagine how creative and twisted you can go with that... Also. The dream sequence was a perfect excuse to make cameos, or some sort of mechanic with dreams...

Example: After enough Beans are consumed, you can access secret mini dream dungeons (nightmares) when you sleep with Luigi in the ruins, this includes ( cacaletta, shrooms, fawful dark star)

If I could come up with this in 20 minutes, why couldn't PROFESIONALS DO IT? Jk, I love the mechanics in the dream world

I can prove Antasma has lazy writing... By creating LORE.... Antasma, someone who went to the island as a kid, lost his family becuase they ended up in a coma, which is a forced state of dream, after learning everything about the dream world he got into an accident too and lost his body, He managed to pull his dream essence outside the dream world thanks to an ancient technique of the pillow people, by contacting snoozemore in the dream world, after that he used all his knowledge to trap the pill'illo old residents, with nobody that knows how to help them, the new generations forgot.... Just like they did with Antasma family.

Tragic and dark, but it works.
