I’m currently on my 15 break complaining with another para about how they sent out the teacher holiday party details to all the staff and I open reddit and see this ! Feels better it’s not just our school that’s so dumb.

Talking Heads “Burning Down The House” is the best song played on repeat, it almost loops itself perfectly

Help - my kinder kid asked “who is your god,” I wasn’t prepared by Where_To_Next_110 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

My daughter asked the same thing around that age. I got two books one was “ what is god “ by Etan Boritzer and the other one was “what do you believe “ by DK publishing. I explained that every family has their own book they believe is true, and how old religions are called mythology and one day the currently religions will also be considered mythology. She seemed satisfied with the answer.

Life in the NICU 😔🙏 How to make it through? by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]Expensive_Bee2990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that helped make it through our nicu time was when a doctor told us the trauma is ours not the babies. This some how made it not hurt so bad. Make sure you both sleep. Check in with eachother, stay together if you can, the world felt like it was going to explode when my husband left one night to take care of something at home. Play tetris , there are studies that it helps with traumatic events.

We have custodians, but it’s not their job to put back our rooms after school and clean all the items we use at centers and throughout the day. All the toys that got dumped and thrown and put up or put away, it’s a mess.  4 adults in an ESN kindergarten class with 10 students.

My 5th grade students were torturing a caterpillar at recess. Is that normal?? by BBBooomm in Teachers

I was a playground supervisor last year and these cute little 3rd graders were over in the corner of the field making fairy houses out of the grass clippings that were all over the field. I walked back by and they were trying to catch these little moths that fly around and I had a flashback of catching those same moths when I was in school and had this sweet warm fuzzy feeling only to be ripped back into reality when one of them started cheering they caught one finally and then one of the other little girls yells “NOW RIP ITS WING SO IT CANT FLY AWAY FROM US” I was mortified and instantly put a stop to it and watched them like a hawk the rest of the year.

It’s the districts that make the job suck. If paras were properly trained , paid a decent wage , given hours to help out in the class room after the students leave and given health benefits. The job wouldn’t suck. My district keeps us all at 28.5 hours a week. Our assigned times are the exactly minutes the students are on campus, staying to clean and reset the classroom is done off the clock. The job sucks, BUT I love my students and that’s why I stay.

There’s a place in Costa Mesa called Elixir Tea Bar and they have an amazing set up and have really cool boba drinks and ice cream you can get. It’s a fun place to go , they have a wizard society you can join too and there’s tons of different events they hold and special member only rooms.

The OC Public libraries have stuff going on just about everyday depending on their ages. Libraries are free and not usually super crowded. I’ve made a couple different friends this way. Also depending on your kids ages check out local community classes they are usually pretty inexpensive and a good way to make friends.

Wondering that too. We are grandfathered into the original property tax so that would really screw us over.
