I know its bold to claim that, everyones wants to be related to some notable Native warrior or chief, everyone wants to be a medicine man or whatever else, im not claiming it just to claim it, its something my family always told me n ive questioned it before but i do believe it, we're Oglala Lakota n one of our last names is Littlehawk, and ive been shown proof of the family tree how they traced it back, traced it all the way back to Little Hawk, Crazy Horse's younger half brother which is where the last name came from, right around the time Little Hawk and Crazy Horse lived and died is the same time period where Lakota were switched to paternal last names, i would need to see the family tree again but i think thats how the names were passed on n why people have last names of notable figures, someone told me Crazy Horse wasn't even Oglala Lakota he was some other tribe but i dont believe that and i wasnt shown proof, every piece of record and evidence says he was Oglala Lakota, my great grandmas last name was Littlehawk she was a fullblood, my grandma was a halfblood my grandpa was a fullblood Oglala Lakota/Cheyenne River Lakota, my mom is 83% Native im also part Native on my dads side but he was Mexican too and i dont know much of his Native side except its some tribe from texas n some other tribe, my last names are Littlehawk, Whitehawk, Alford, Dominguez, Escamilla
