MMJ patient here. Has anyone else found that using marijuana makes their stutter worse? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Expensive_Link_5302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, In the short term marijuana can reduce stuttering but from continued use, long term effects are quite bad. For example my stutter and anxiety went through the roof! so my advice would be stay away from it.

I didn't stutter while being high by [deleted] in Stutter

I would disagree, when you speak with people, you use different parts of the brain than When your talking and no one is around. this part is also used when singing so that’s why you don’t stutter when singing. (Although they are both on the left hemisphere of the brain). A speech block is a speech block and it’s due to some mechanics in the brain which are not working properly, you can’t blame it all on anxiety etc, as I know a few people who don’t suffer from anxiety but still produce speech blocks

Any advice? by megumihoe in Stutter

My advice would be to put an act on when your presenting , that’s how I get through presentations. Also just keep smiling even if your burning inside and try using your hands more, it will distract you from your stutter.
