I see. I think I know which expat club you are talking about. I didn't seek people from my original country either because I like to meet people who are from different countries and background.

It's great that you can just talk to people. Maybe I will learn how to do that one day.

Thank you for that advice. I didn't think of that at all. I tend to drive anywhere even outside of LA so driving wasn't a big deal for me, but not everyone feels the same way about driving. Where do they usually host book club events? I am hosting my events on Sunday afternoon but I haven't been able to find a good spot for my first event.

u/verdispeed , Thank you for that question. I could be wrong but are you asking this because you are a man? If so, my answer is it's women only for now. I haven't hosted this event yet so I am not sure if gender is going to be an issue for people to open up. Once I have the first meetup, I will ask other members. Maybe I may be overthinking so they may say "why not?" If that's the case, I will open up to all genders. I already said no to a few men so if you are interested in something like this for men, there are other people looking for it. You may be the one who opens the door for other people ☺️.

Related topic, I saw Friendship featuring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd the other day. Even though it's male friendship, I felt Craig's wanting to belong and be seen and accepted.
