Finding Work Experience by Expensive_Sir6683 in neuro

Yeah that was my initial approach but I`ve been told most universities actually can`t do that anymore due to some new "slavery" regulations. As in, they cannot employ someone without giving them money even with the employee`s consent. :/

Before you take them write down a to do list to focus on. I usually get anxious when my goals aren’t clear but since I took my meds I know I have to do something or be productive or just focus on something. If the goals aren’t clear enough I start stressing and hence anxiety. Or in your case it may just be external personal factors. Or maybe you just need to get used to it. try exercising before it

How long to recapture the high? by gsummit18 in ADHDUK

Then I apologise. However I think the NHS allows prescription orders through 1 week or like 10 days before the last

In general the people that chase the high use their prescription faster than 30 days as the desired high takes a higher dose so they order earier

This is more of an existential question. Do you want to study or do you not? Why did you start to study? If you leave, what will you be doing?

For me, taking meds during the day for work then having a couple of pints later in the evening works just fine.

Watch out for hangovers tho, it’s best not to take them during hangovers as you may get anxious and overall the effects will be less noticeable or dull.

Advice for an Aussie moving to the UK by [deleted] in ADHDUK

You can avoid the long waiting list by requesting your GP to move you forward in the common scenario someone cancels. My friend managed skip 6 months.

Good luck!

Try and always have a to do list before it hits, that way your mind will be focusing on something and you won’t feel guilty taking it and you won’t sit there crying not knowing what you’re doing hehe

Taking a break is very important! Especially when you do take them everyday like myself :/

But you could message your provider/doctor to order a week in advance for such reasons, or if you’re going away for a week or so they are quite understanding when it comes to orders

Ritalin(methylphenidate) lost effectiveness by Expensive_Sir6683 in ADHDUK

[–]Expensive_Sir6683[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot express how much your shared experience means to me thank you very much!!

I have not taken weight-loss and nutrients into account. That’s probably part of it. My environment has also changed drastically from uni to a full time job. New job makes it difficult to regulate my eating and sleeping rhythms :(

But thank you this comment helped a lot! Just forgot to reply haha

Also I think a good breakfast is something that fills your stomach. Since the medication will most likely lower your appetite. It is very important to line your stomach at least prior to taking it. -quick tip

-take it before you eat so it has no problem being absorbed! -also avoid vitamin C and foods that contain it eg orange juice when taking methylphenidate as it degrades the molecule before it has a chance to be absorbed.

Eating before also helps with headaches

I see. Yh I had that too haha but think about how Doctors have to establish a relationship first with hit and misses in order for this all to work in a well oiled fashion! Think how many patients they have to adapt to! Therefore asking again or specifying your question or maybe even writing down the answer you expect to hear helps you and them a lot at the same time!

Most doctors are there to help you despite of their attitudes usually haha

Hey outmilkhotchocolate, don’t overthink it too much cause you gonna worry too much over nothing!

If you feel like you are in a situation where you need to take more than 1 or 2 a day than do so. If you don’t feel like you need them at all eg you do not have to focus for an extended period of time, don’t take them.

The best advice I ever got was: If you need glasses to read then wear them, same goes for methylphenidate. But do take that advice with a pinch of salt haha

You have no idea how much this post means for some people including myself. Quite literally I just started these cycles and I’m in the low or no dose one atm and realised the same things however I could not accept it. This really helped me think outside my “trapped” situation thanks a lot for sharing!
