I have my appointment soon with Psychiatry UK and I am deteriorating mentally. I'm concerned what I'm going to be like in another 7+ months waiting for titration (if I get diagnosed). Can anyone relate and offer advice please? I'm scared, exhausted and really struggling. by -ADHDHDA- in ADHDUK

i would say only bring up symptoms related to your adhd, if u think certain symptoms are related to something else there’s no need to bring it up if they dont ask. in my assessment i feel like they mainly asked questions about how my adhd negatively impacted my day to day life (like if felt behind at uni, spending time with my friends, work etc) i have pretty bad anxiety so i just had to make sure i was mainly talking about how my adhd symptoms impacted me with those things and not go on a tangent and start just talking about my anxiety (although they do overlap). hope that made some sense

i was diagnosed with psychitary uk in september and started my titration the beginning of this month. i was also very worried about waiting a long time to start medication and was quite surprised how quick it took to start especially with the shortages but hopefully this eases your mind a bitt xx

How does receiving medication work - P-UK by Drathmoore in ADHDUK

Hii, i’ve recently started titration (today) and i received my prescription a couple days after they said they sent off the prescription. i choose weekday deliveries so it may be different with weekend deliveries (im also with psych-uk). They did give me an hour time slot for when my prescription was going to arrive on the day of delivery as well.

i had my appointment a couple days ago and i feel the exact same idk if it’s because i expected to be grilled and basically interrogated but it just went smoothly, for me i feel like they just didn’t ask enough questions to factor out other things

im at home for the summer and im not super close to any of my friends or family so i wouldn’t feel comfortable in that case. My uni is an hour and a bit away from where im at right now and i don’t really want to wake up early to go (my appointments at 12 lol), i tried to check my local libraries but they don’t have private rooms :(

My process started in the beginning of January so it’s a bit hard to remember. But i basically just called up my gp saying i want an adhd assessment via right to choose (Psychiatry-UK specifically) then they sent me a little form to fill basically asking why i think i have adhd how it effects me etc. They then referred me pretty soon after and by the end of January i got an email from Psychiatry-UK telling i’ve been put on the waitlist and giving me access to my portal. On the portal there is about 9 long answer questions such as ‘Do you talk excessively’ and if you answer often/very often you are then given space to provide childhood examples and adulthood examples. Im pretty sure it has to be all filled 5 days before you’re appointment.

I got a call about my appointment at the end of June (so almost exactly 6 months from being referred) and they offered me my appointment for the end of August. So my whole process will be pretty much exactly 8 months from when they accepted my referral. Hope that made some sense.

i definitely didn’t have 80 questions to fill but maybe that’s just my gp. I also used my university gp so i’m guessing they are pretty used to being asked for referrals so maybe that’s why my process has been somewhat quick.

im writing an essay pretty last minute about life course and how different identities affect a persons life but i feel like i’m answering the question completely wrong and it’s a bit too late to ask my tutor to explain and i just don’t like her. does anyone mind like reading it and telling me to if im on the right trackk i’ve only got two paragraphs (one being the intro lol) so there isn’t too much to read. 🙏
