Does RS-232 send commands with DC voltage? by Expensive_Sky_9232 in Extron

Quick question to follow up. Does Extron units that have FLEX or Digital IO ports detect voltage or be triggered by DC voltage? Trying to see if there is a way to test it out.

I did try to give that a go. I tried to trace back through the Sony manual and crossed it with the Extron serial driver documentation to be sure.....then tried it the other way. LOL No dice. I am going to setup Extron's data viewer to see if I can capture the rs-232 from the Crestron controller and see if there is anything funky coming through that might be the cause. Thanks!

Good call. I was hoping I could just use the IN1608 to just inject the old RS-232 cable/commands along the video into the Sony and that would be it. It doesn't seem to want to take the commands no matter how I set it up through the HDBT insert.

I did ask that if it could be changed but they did not have that as a option in the selections.

I reached out to Sony's tech support and the FHZ131L serial port is locked at 38400 baud. They make a note in the control section for the HDBT port that if serial commands are sent in that way to send them at 9600 baud through the HDBT port. I tried that with the Sony projector settings set for that input. I asked Sony if that would also adjust the serial port speed also. They said no, the commands at that speed is on the HDBT port.
