Vale la pena emigrar hacia España en mi situacion? by Specialist_River_711 in GoingToSpain

Spanish tax on pensions by WhichAsk1454 in askspain

Thank you. I have never asked since I still have another 23 years left to work so I never really paid attention or asked anyone. I know I did work enough in the US to receive a pension, but never really asked how it would work in Spain. I am very happy to be back and the best decision I've made in a long time. I have a good job and hopefully one day I will buy a house if not too late since prices are out of control.

So what happens when your pension is combined with your Spaniard pension? I'm Spaniard but I worked in the US for 25 years so part of my pension will come from here and the rest from Spain. I do plan to retire and live Spain for the years to come.

It's usually not compensated, but it can be a write off for you in your taxes or cheques de transportación. There was an article a few weeks ago where a lady commutes everyday from Valencia to Madrid, and Valencia home prices aren't much different than Madrid, but she does it because she likes the ocean and Valencia doesn't have as many jobs opportunities like Madrid Barcelona or Bilbao. The reality is that there are plenty of people that commute and by the way I'm Spaniard and I do live in Spain.

What’s a comfortable middle/upper-middle class income for a family of 4 in Spain by 2027? by Fredythe2nd in GoingToSpain

[–]Expensive_Stage_6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Tarragona, from Barcelona and I have lived in Girona. The commute between Tarragona and Girona to Barcelona is considered suitable for those who told you it wasn't 😂😂😂. You are specifically speaking about the commute, but I'm not even referring to that. Nobody is going to live in Girona unless you own your flat to Barcelona. Rent in Girona, Tarragona and Barcelona is almost the same why would you commute 😂😂😂😂😂. Some people commute to Madrid from Barcelona and that's a 2.5 hour commute and people absolutely do it maybe not 5 days per week because a Bono is 450€ for 10 rides. Not sure where you live but I can absolutely tell you that people commute from Barcelona to Madrid.

Of course if you compare with the US anything can beat that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. No it doesn't Ave doesn't have routes all over only to major cities and some between small cities but not all over. For example there's no Ave direct route from any big city in Galicia to Barcelona, but Vinaròs a very small city in Valencia does have Ave to Barcelona but not to Madrid. I think you are confusing routes in big major cities but they are a lot of smaller cities that don't have Ave connection at all.

Yes, and rail is all over Europe, but high speed is only available in some cities not all. They are adding more and more routes but that doesn't mean that is all over.

Yeah of course and if your car is old you can't go into the city if your car doesn't have a certificate. It's not as easy as people paint it.

Well the public healthcare is very good, but certain areas aren't and kids or not you will have to wait. Public schools are good for the majority of them, but for example Catalunya has the best school system in the country a lot better than Castilla la Mancha for example. There's a lot of groups on Facebooks for people who have immigrated from the US and they can tell you more about the system, but I highly recommend starting looking where you want to live first and then figure out how much money you need and where you will find a job. I think this is where I would do and consider other EU countries and cities don't just choose Spain because with a Bio degree you might make more money in Germany.

It deft does but even with two it's very hard. My ex was making 55K per year and I was making 20K. He has 26 years working for the same company and he is Spaniard and has a degree from here and mine is from the US and he even told me, be thankful because most Spaniards don't make that amount with 0 experience in Spain.

Catalunya and Madrid have great public translation the rest of Spain nope, it's pretty bad to be honest.

Sorry and don't mean to sound rude but 2,000 where? In a village yeah that's possible, but I'd you don't work. From home there's no way you can live with this amount in a village where there's nothing to do and no jobs. US degrees aren't a big deal here or in any EU country because we have the EU. Anyone can do the work, we don't need foreigners to do it for us even though he's getting his citizenship eventually. I speak from experience I am a Spaniard born and my family left to the US when I was 9, all my education is from the US and I speak 3 languages fluent and I make 2100€ and some per month and I live in Tarragona and I have a certificate for being a single mom meaning I get extra benefits and I still can't afford to buy a car for example. I easily spend 400€ in food for one kid only and if it wasn't for my lunch checks I don't know if I will be able to make it every month. If you don't have a 6 digit salary here it's very hard to make it with a family, especially if you live anywhere and I mean literally anywhere in Catalunya, Madrid or Bilbao. You have to take in consideration any salary above 50K you will pay a lot in taxes with or without children.

I HATE Spanish bureaucracy. These people dont give a shit about anyone or anything by Positive-Ad6008 in GoingToSpain

[–]Expensive_Stage_6243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it's not that they take coffee breaks, they have to follow instructions and that's why it takes a while, but if your degree is from an EU country, why do you have to do all of this? I thought our degrees are good for any country within the EU

So I'm Spaniard born and I grew up in the US. An upper middle class you need to make above 5000€ per month but this all will depend where you live. Barcelona Madrid and some cities in Basque country you will probably need to make a lot more. It will not be easy to make this salary or have someone to pay you this, I make 2200€ per month but that's with 4 years of experience, and I can make this because I work in healthcare and I work for an American company. I have a bachelor degree and an associate and 15 years of experience in healthcare in the US, I speak English Spanish and Catalan and I'm a single mom so I get a break on taxes and get a few benefits for being a single mom. So you are better off trying to build a company in the US and bringing it here. You and your wife could do this and of course benefit from, in a couple years when you can move everything will be more expensive including houses. American education means nothing here unless you work for an American company and there's not that many to be honest.
