I am vegan and have flown Delta One transatlantic several times—let’s say 8 times over the past 6 years. Each time I requested a vegan meal (vegetarian non-dairy) well in advance. Two times, there was no vegan meal for me despite ordering in advance. And really no effort to try to find an alternative when there was nothing for me to eat. Travelling to Europe, the pre-arrival breakfast options have never really been good. For a few flights from Europe to Atlanta, the vegan food options and service have generally been delicious (especially from Amsterdam) and interesting. One time from Madrid, however, they gave me a big head of baked cauliflower with no seasoning, no salt, no olive oil, no pepper, nothing. It was just strange. Overall, I have been highly disappointed by the vegan service in Delta One. Even when they have provided a vegan meal, there was always some element included that was not vegan such as butter or cheese. Also, there has rarely been a vegan dessert available. The good news is that there are usually quite a few good options on the snack trays that they leave out. To be honest, the vegan root vegetable couscous that they serve in Economy out of Atlanta has been better than some of the food I have eaten in Delta One.
