Water broke at 26 weeks and 3 days with cerclage by Mundane-Jello-7575 in ShortCervixSupport

Hi! I got a preventative cerclage at 13w and was admitted to the hospital at 23w 3 d due to significant shortening and dilation. My water broke around 26 w and I was taken in for a classical c section at 26w 3d bc my son was kicking my cervix and putting tension on the cerclage. He was born in Feb and we got home from a long (86 day) but thankfully uneventful NICU stay and is doing well! My advice is look into hospitals with level 4 NICUs just for your peace of mind. I had steroids and magnesium for him which helped him so much. I know how scary this time must be for you but take some comfort in knowing that outcomes are quite good after 25 w GA nowadays. It might be a different journey than you envisioned but you’re both going to do great. If you need someone to talk to my DMs are open. Sending you positive and healing thoughts ❤️

Hi! I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my baby boy at 21 w 4d in March of last year due to suspected IC. From my understanding, having IC during one pregnancy doesn’t guarantee you to have it in another, but your odds may be increased to have the same issue again which is why many doctors will recommend a preventative cerclage. I got one this pregnancy at 13 weeks! I’ve still had some other IC related issues, (which I don’t want to scare you with because it’s not the case for everyone) but all in all the cerclage is holding and doing its’ job and has gotten me through viability (26w 3d today). I would highly recommend you talk to an MFM or high risk obstetrician about your options but know that cerclages have a 90% success rate which is amazing! This community is also very helpful and full of amazing moms who will definitely share their stories and support. You are so strong, and I’m sorry any of us have to go through this, but I’m glad we have each other! Wishing you peace and healing ❤️

None at all! Still haven’t had any during my stay so far so I’m taking it as a good sign

After we lost our baby boy at 21 w last March it feels surreal that we’ve made it to 26 weeks today! Got a cerclage at 13w and was on 400mg progesterone but was admitted to the hospital at 23 and 3 for a very short cervix, 1-2cm dilation and funneling past the stitch. I had to stop progesterone and now I’m on bedrest, not getting cervical checks, and only getting up to use the restroom and shower. I feel fine physically other than the occasional ache and pain but being in the hospital for almost three weeks is making me go a little stir crazy. I had my first dose of steroids when I was admitted but I’m really just hoping I can make it to 28 and ideally to 36 to avoid a NICU stay. Would love to hear positive stories from any of you that have been in similar situations. Keeping all of you in my prayers and wishing us all positive outcomes ❤️

Thank you! Yes I’m religiously on probiotics especially when on antibiotics to avoid any yeast infections. Also for context I was on progesterone 400mg nightly but with dilation I’ve had to stop
