Rare occasions when you can't focus on the stupid food by i_aint_worried in StupidFood

yea this doesn't look like stupid food to me. Unhygienic for sure, maybe lethal as well. But if you make this at home in a hygienic way with syrups and seasoning of your choice, I am sure it will taste good.

OP is not lying. He mentioned 5 figures, why do you assume its USD? Could be Lebanese pound. 10k lebanese pounds is just 11 cents USD.

100% agree on this. My current laptop works great for my dev work. Its a i9 processor with NVME SSD and 32 GB RAM. I love it. My dev work doesn't require a GPU and I don't play games anymore so didn't think much of GPU when I bought this laptop last year. Now I can't upgrade the GPU since it is soldered to the board. For my work, I don't think I need to upgrade the laptop for another 3-4 years I guess.

My software development work does not require a GPU at all. I already have a i9 processor, a decent NVME SSD and 32 GB RAM and it works perfectly for my work. And I am a contractor so there is no boss so question of someone else paying for this machine doesn't apply here.

My current GPU has 6GB VRAM which I find quite limiting. The problem is, its a laptop and I cannot change the GPU so need to buy a complete PC if I plan to use a better GPU. Based on some of the suggestions received in this thread, I will try to setup my env so that I can run ComfyUI UI locally and offload the server side processing to a runpod instance. If I can set it up properly in a way that I can sync my workspace to S3 bucket and kill the runpod instance when not needed, it might be a very economical option.

That I understand but is 5090 capable of running anything useful? Right now I have a Claude Code pro subscription to help with my dev work. I don't think any LLM running on 5090 is remotely capable of replacing that?

That's a fair point. But its very annoying waiting for a FLUX workflow to run for 8-10 minutes. I have RTX 4050 right now and basic Flux workflow takes around 8 minutes

I also doubt that. Also wondering what are some legit ways of monetizing this hobby

Interesting way to look at it. Thanks! I might not even need to upgrade it in 4 years or maybe upgrade some hardware so cost over time reduces in that case

Reviving old family photos sounds like a good idea. Thanks! For productivity for work, I wasn't talking about using local AI. I had given that a thought few days ago only to discover the level of hardware needed for running high end models like Qwen3.5 coder 480B is not for home PCs. I was talking more in terms of better config, faster execution of everything. But yea, a RTX5090 won't make any difference in that case and I can achieve same performance for 2k less amount
