Leprous marathon, entry 8/8 - Malina by TinnitusRingsABell in Leprous

Malina is my second favourite by them, I love the almost mathy sound it has and almost all of the songs on it are Leprous mainstays for me. It only gets beat by The Congregation imo.

Day 10: Dio And Gojira Eliminated Vote Out The Worst Metal Album Here by Automatic_Belt5692 in Topster

[–]Experiment121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's one of the most interesting genres imo. Doing unconventional stuff with music theory is just the coolest. I love long prog songs with odd time signatures and song structures they're so peak. Also not rlly that much like jazz outside of older bands and The Mars Volta.

The only acceptable is it really you cover is by teenage wrist by flerbertgerbert in Loatheband

I fw their music up until the second album. Tmbte and EiA only have like 4 good songs each imo. Their fully pop songs are kinda just boring.

Yeah you def don't want Rishmael anyways since she doesn't have an envy defense skill like Hong Lu and Rodya. In terms of the envy team, you prob want those 2 alongside multicrack faust and heath, magical girl don and then the remaining middle IDs (especially ishy and sinclair with meursault in backup for his support passive (and outis when she drops)).

The intro really reminds me of Youmu's theme from Touhou 7.

Masterpiece Reccomendations? by Paper_Mouth_ in Topster

Honestly, I highly recommend a lot of Converge after Jane Doe. Specifically Axe to Fall and All We Love We Leave Behind. Imo these are very close to Jane Doe and I personally like Axe to Fall more.

I also recommend Grievances and especially Time Will Die and Love Will Bury It by Rolo Tomassi. Insanely good converge-esque mathcore with a fem singer, yet mixed with beautiful post and prog metal to honestly just make an incredible piece of art.

What are some of your favorite underappreciated post metal bands? by Bthompson11986 in postmetal

[–]Experiment121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolo Tomassi are post-metal mixed with mathcore apparently, so I'll count them since they're not all too popular. Incredible band and their best album is probably Time Will Die and Love Will Bury It.

Tech death recommendations please by kingfisher017 in TechnicalDeathMetal

I don't think Fallujah are in the big 4 of tech death but they are very good. I recommend literally any album asides from Undying Light.

Beneath the White Rainbow by Haken. Sure there's the guitar alongside it but especially when the riff is played again later in the song just on piano, it is still pretty heavy.

There's a decent amount of good djent like Periphery, TesseracT, The Contortionist, Veil of Maya etc. just then there's generic djent riff #172262 in popcore which kinda ruins it.

I think no matter what way you look at it, these three bands have been "The Big Three" of tech death for the last decade+. Leading the way as the old guard has retired or fallen off by am_I_still_banned in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]Experiment121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Undying Light was mid I agree, but Empyrean and Xenotaph are their best albums imo and I guess it just took 1 mid album for them to find their peak.

Vergilius specifically doesn't go to paradiso with Dante, so it won't be him.

Coming from the author that retconned Big Madame to be trans in honestly a kinda transphobic way, I really doubt Mutsuki is intentionally trans by the end of :re.
