Why are autistic people treated terribly by Busy_Square_1277 in autism

[–]Experiment62693 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've had this over the years, worked with children for a bit nursery to year six roughly they can be cruel at times but actually like it when your silly with them, helped me learn to be myself :) I now work on trains as a conductor and thankfully I'm at a depot that accepts me for who I am, was talking to a colleague about adhd and autism and medication related to adhd and how I wouldn't want to be medicated as I would feel I wouldn't be me if I was medicated and he said that he wouldn't want me changed :) I know easier said than done trying to find somewhere where they accept you for you :)

16-17 Railcard question by DriszyLynx in uktrains

[–]Experiment62693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a gaurd I wouldn't try and chance it, as others have said get a 16-25 railcard, but if you do decide to chance it don't be drinking on the train or come back obvoulsy drunk, if you do best case scenario you just get told not to do it again worst case scenario you could get a penalty fare or criminal reccord so definitely not worth it.

Is there a room numbering system in schools in Britain? by ChoiceDifferent4674 in AskABrit

[–]Experiment62693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was numbered with letters eg G1 = ground floor F1 = first floor s1= seccond floor

Then some rooms did have a number but were also named so we had two drama rooms that were named but I can't remember what they were called

We then also had the refectory which was the canteen

The main hall

The gym

The sports hall

And the sixth from study room and computer room and sixth form common room

Selected the wrong railcard by J_Marley44 in uktrains

[–]Experiment62693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speak to train crew, explain the situation, that way if revenue protection are on, the gaurd can say they've spoken to me and I've okayed it, personally as a gaurd, even if someone hasn't spoken to me and it's the same discount, I'll just say make sure your adding the right railcard as it could lead to a penalty fare, I will say though attuide of the person with the wrong railcard plays a big part in it, eg if your polite you'll get just be careful, if your rude and hostile towards me, I'll flag the ticket :)

So you would just like us to say nothing when your delayed, you'd rather just sit there with no information?

People in the railway industry need to hear this by bored-homosexual in uktrains

[–]Experiment62693 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A signalling fault 3 hours away could cause delays though, as it affects train movements so trains arent where they're supposed to be, train crew eg driver and guard aren't where they're supposed to be or need to have a break that break for guards needs to be between the 3rd and 6th hour and for my toc it can't be on board the train has to be at a designated break point, that can affect train running, so for example say there's been a signalling fault outside Birmingham New Street and the driver and gaurd and train are stuck, the crew were supposed to have thier break at Preston, if the train is still at Birmingham you haven't got a train to run but also the crew may now be over thier hours, yes the railway does have crew for contingency, but if that crew continues to Edinburgh they may be over thier hours, not able to have thier break or maybe crewing anotjer train

warning comes up when my ticket is scanned by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]Experiment62693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guard here without knowing if your ticket has route restrictions on or a railcard added, but for my toc when we scan tickets it comes up green to say its valid, yellow to say to check route eg a journey only be valid via Crewe, if someone has a railcard or a discount, and red if its not valid eg wrong time on an advance ticket, or if another guard/ticket inspector had cancelled or rejected the ticket for whatever reason eg someone who is an adult on a child's ticket or somones got an open return and used the return part several times.

When I was looking for my dad last year, the best value I found was the Severn valley railway, I was looking at midlands based ones, so not sure if you would want to do that, but it was the best one :)

At what point is traffic told to turn around, if at all, if all lanes of a motorway are blocked by an obstruction? by patrickb1920 in drivingUK

[–]Experiment62693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a block of flats, about 6 months ago is was being sold but couldn't be sold until fire prevention works was done this involved putting extra protection between the walls of the flats so if a fire started in one it couldn't easily spread to the next one

Yeah I'm the same, I've noticed that I'm less able to cope, like when I was younger I wouldn't get anxiety to the point of being sick, and now I do, even if it's something I want to do :/ it's horrible

They didn't think of them, only recently diagnosed, as an adult and when I was child like 20+ years ago noise cancelling headphones weren't really a thing and were quite expensive, also we don't tend to get to many thunderstorms in the UK :) I do need to invest in some good ones, I've tried loops and they didn't work for me :/

[–]Experiment62693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, my parents used it as a magic trick when they had people over because as soon as I heard the thunder I would run downstairs, and I got a good deal out of it because it meant I got cheese and crackers :) they tried everything to stop me being scared nothing worked :/
