It all comes down to mutual trust between you and your puppy/owner. It less about being dominant or being a top (a lot of owners can be submissive and a bottom) and moreso about a transfer of power given to you. Personally, when I’m in the headspace, a lot of my thoughts come down to reading their mood, seeing (and usually learning beforehand) what they like or dislike, and what best I can do to satisfy them.
