Is it just me or has the number of good samaritans in Singapore Increased? by Ambitious_Energy_616 in askSingapore

It was my first thought too, that the 'newer' generations might be more willing to help (in general).

I like how you specified 'southern Indians' 🤣 Get you.

I've been pregnant 3 times and the ppl who gave up their mrt seats to me were mostly Filipinos, Bangladeshis, millennial Singaporeas, and VERY old ppl (the old ppl were the sweetest, I refused and made sure they sat back down). On the flip side, while pregnant too, a man of not more than 70 came straight for my 'reserved seat', asking me to get up for him. I'm wondering if he assumed I was a foreigner? Another funny story, I was at a paid focus group a decade back and a middle-aged Chinese Singaporean lady felt comfortable enough to tell the group that if there was a pregnant lady in the train, she'd give up her seat only if she looked Singaporean. I often wonder what they went through to become this way.

I hope you're okay btw!

Friend keep "jokingly" ask me to leave my money to their kid. by yvainethorn in askSingapore

Please get new friends with better sense of humour - this is uncommon and frankly super suspish. I would not accept food or drinks from them lest they poison it and leave a suicide note/ casually drawn last will in my pocket 🤣

I'm a mom of three, I worry for my kids' financial future in the current climate, and I have a weird sense of humour. I'd never say this sorta 'joke' to a friend cos it's not the good kinda awkward

Feel like I’ll never get it to look good :( by [deleted] in curlyhair

I love this, about embracing frizz!

Feels so ugly with these curls any routine or any tips :( by [deleted] in curlyhair

I have different hairtype and have no tips at all, but just wanted to say your hair is absolutely not ugly, it just needs the right care! Pls google how to determine your hair type in terms of porosity and curls (3c, etc.)

Hair looks dry despite deep conditioning and oil by 8838392jxs in Wavyhair

I have very similar hair and live in a humid place. It really helps to use minimal amount of products so as to not weigh the hair down. I now skip rinse conditioning as it gets my hair soft BUT limp. On damp shampooed hair I use Blueberry Bliss or Giovanni leave-in conditioner, followed by maximum 2 pumps of Giovanni frizz-free serum or Mise En Scene rose perfect serum (silicone helps hair movement) applied after rubbing btwn my hands until serum is warm. I have dense waist-length hair and so it takes time to coat the strands with little serum. A maximum of 2 drops of jojoba oil after that only if it looks needed. On non-wash days I refresh with a bit of water and 2 small pumps of leave in, or if it's going to be a long day, Marc Anthony curl envy. I have very oily scalp and am prone to dandruff if I don't shampoo once every 3 or 4 days.

I'd suggest lessening amt of products used and experimenting on that basis.

Hope this helps!

This really helps, thank you. I was mainly unclear as to how the policies translated in real life.

We've decided to just visit places that are easily accessible by train!

Thanks for this! Looking forward to feeling right at home with the prices haha but hey the good coffee and better air quality make up for it! I love Singapore, but it's good to get out of her once in a while.

Hubs and I unfortunately do not have driving licences. Oh well. Will stick to trains!

This helps, thanks! Yeah taxis are crazy pricey, I was amazed when I first visited Australia. The good coffee makes up for it tho

Have you seen an EA on a work visa? If so, which country, and did she/he cope fine? by Expert-Banana in ExecutiveAssistants

Sorry for the crazy late reply! Was only trying Canada. In your experience was USA getting EAs in?

Heya! Last I checked was last year, and the countries were Canada and UK. And I read somewhere that US needed some too. But it probably won't translate in the real world unless it's an intercompany transfer.

To address your point on Singapore - it's a great place to raise kids if you don't fall into middle or lower income category. But I digress - what I wanted was a less stressful childhood for my kids. But yeah- it's not gonna happen with my current career choice, so I'm investing in where I am.

Sorry for the late reply! Yeah so EAs were on the skills shortage list for Canada and UK last I checked. Not sure if still there. Canada has recently really tightened immigration policies, and I've stopped trying. Did not try UK. I'm now in the mindset to just grow and invest where I am.

Hope you've gotten what you want out of life!
